It was good to see what the infamous Eldon Carl looks like after all this time. The article Morgan did on him and his King KLR was top-notch indeed (I'm curious as to who that dude is on page 8 who looks like he's doing something lewd to Eldons bike). Gino's "best dual sports of the century" write-up was appropriate and well done, but it does have me scratching my head as to why the Honda XL and Yamaha DT series' didn't make the cut. Oh well, the ol'e Honda 90 made it. Good pick. Arne's Big Gun piece surprised me in how relatively quiet the Gun is after all the talk about it being loud on the list. Might have to get one now. Thanks Arne. Verle's vintage DS article is right down my alley, I hope you have more of those under your hat. Who'da thunk, a BSA DSer! I don't know if Robert Runyard is on the list, but his travel report of riding his GS in the Andes is what dreams are made of. String a few of those together and you'll be doing book shows with Ted Simon and Helge P. Last but not least, Kurt's article on the trick, aftermarket, aluminum, hi-performance, high-flow airbox really got me going until I found out it's not available for the KLR. Oh well, the DR riders out there are lucky to have this item as an option for their bike.(the KLRs airbox is probably already a good part). All in all, an impressive publication and I'm sure it will get even better. I would encourage those of you who haven't yet subscribed, to do so. You won't be disappointed. BTW, the subscription price remains only $15! This one is street legal with road tires and lights and cost me 150 dollars on sale. I cut a piece of three quarter inch plywood to make a strong floor and removed a leaf from each spring pack to smooth the ride some. Not sure about how high the hitch would be on your Connie but for my Wing I didn't have to modify the tongue. I mounted a big cartop luggage box and had more room than just about any car does. The box was donated so total investment was well under 200 bucks. Now I'm gonna remove the box and mount a rail for the KLR's tires to sit in ... again, the cost is almost nothing. I'll probably find some big plastic boxes to mount on the sides to carry camping gear in. Now my opinion is this setup is gonna be too heavy for a Connie but if it was my Connie, I would be doing it anyway. I'm here if you have any questions.
