ZRX a sport bike? Maybe if you squint. To me it's just a glorified standard. > So what did you think of the Turbine Bike?< My limited knowledge of diesel engines is that they have higher compression, a lot more plumbing and the ability to perform at operating loads better and longer than their gas powered counterparts. I must admit that my knowledge of turbines is nill. It should be a wonderful machine with and exceptional power to weight ratio that many bikes can only dream about. At $225,000 dollars, I do not think I will ever know much more about it. A couple of years ago I was getting over 50 mpg. Lately it has dropped to the 38-40 mpg range. This has not changed with a new Trapp IDS2, dynojet kit, K&N filter or any change in riding style. Even riding at less than 65 mph showes little effect on mileage. The worst I have had recently is 30 mpg while bucking a 70 mph headwind. The bike would not even pull 5th gear. The best was 48 mpg on the return trip with the wind at my back. Gary B. I have also been known to tuck in behind the tiny fairing to squeeze a few extra MPH out of the beastie when trying to keep up with my mates CBR600 :-). That's got to help the gas mileage. I was expecting it to be higher My KLR650 A13 is stock except for removal of the evaporative emission canister and related equipment. The "T" in the vacuum line was removed and the line now goes only to the fuel petcock. These changes seemed to improve both my fuel mileage and low-end torque, but it could easily be my imagination. I check every tank; here are my last 10 numbers: 53.1, 51.4, 56.4, 61.3, 55.2, 62.0, 55.6, 59.0, 60.0, 61.6. The higher numbers are highway trips at 70 to 75 indicated. In the past, I tried cruising at 80 to 85 indicated and my mileage dropped into the low 40s. my mileage was poor initially, but I discovered the air filter element was coated with a thick, waxy substance -- perhaps applied by the dealer at the 500 mile service. I washed it thoroughly with a kerosene-type solvent and have used 10-40 motor oil since. I clean my air filter element after any ride of several hours on dusty roads. It always seems to need it.
