This not only revews the waterproofing. It also extends the life of the fabic by shielding it from ozone and sunlight. He also said that the cover should be gently cleaned by hand (ie not washer or dryer) before applying the spray. I paid $300 for it at Best Buy, but my friend Don got his from "The GPS Store" for $250. Don also has a Garmin GPS12C (I think), but I suspect he's somewhat partial to the eMap, because of it's gorgeous 8 MB flash memory. Have you seen www.cycoactive.com ? He has a picture that shows how you can fit about 1/2 the state of California in that joker, and it's really true. It's not perfect, but it's pretty darn good. For a mounting, we've just used a couple pieces of 1" velcro on the back and to a flat surface mounted to the handlebar. The units are very rugged, because the antenna is integral. Don's mount is out of oak, of all things, but mine is out of aluminum and corrugated plastic sign board. The stock windshield didn't last for more than a couple of weeks on my scoot. Like much of the plastic on the thing, it's clearly designed for looks and not for function. Don took his off too. I may be a 1%'er here, but I've even taken off the plastic sidecovers under the seat after they rubbed my calves raw from standing up on the pegs all day for two days in a row. Excess weight! The problem with most of the aftermarket windshields for the KLR that I've seen, is that they simply bolt onto the flimsy front fairing plastic piece. I haven't tried one, but this can not be very good from a structural rigidity standpoint. Flop flop wobble wobble... I took off the entire front end plastic and fashioned a very rigid and light weight headlight/windshield mount from aluminum. Very functional, but so ugly only it's mother could love it...
