Students used their own bikes, I used my RC17. I finished the day riding the RC17 vastly better than I ever had before. Maybe one day I'll do the course again on the KLR just for the fun of it, and I believe the KC tecnique is perfectly compatible with the soft and flexy KLR. My local dealer, who took the bolt off said something like this when I asked him about doing the bolt back up:- "I wouldn't bother bringing the bike back to us, we just lock the back wheel and jump up and down (!) on the bolt, so it would be as easy to do it yourself. The load on the system would be no more than dumping the clutch at high revs". PLease correct me if Im wrong. Anyone?? > carl. WD-40 is first and foremost a Water Displacement formula. Second, it is a fair lubricant. I use WD-40 on my chain immediately after a wash to get the water off of it. Later after a short ride and a chain warm up I us a chain lube product. Last summer I took a 2700 mile trip on the KLR through Idaho and its wilderness areas, all dirt roads, and it rained the entire time (almost). I had a can of WD with me (had to buy another after a while, bought it in Elk City) and would give it a blast every couple of days. On the ride home, I rode from Boise to SF Bay Area in one day, about 700 miles, and did stop in the mountains to spray the chain down, just for good luck. Didn't really stretch, though, I was just being prudent/paranoid. I like the WD because it can remove the water in the chain, and it doesn't pick up dirt, which is really what wears out chains. I am also a believer that chains are more stretched by 100 horsepower motors. Under the front of the seat are two tubes protruding from the rear of the tank. The left one is a vent, the right one is a return for the emissions canister. If the canister has been removed, the right one isn't needed and may be plugged, but the left tube should have a hose routed to some personal favorite spot. Most people put a filter on the end.
