FWIW The low front fender does promote better engine cooling by not block any air flow to the radiator. I experimented with my old XL600R years ago after getting blown around... I have had the same experience. The handle bars make a very distinctive shudder when the stock fender is responding to cross winds. We all know the stock fender is not exempt from basic fluid dynamics physics, and it is in fact a semi efficient foil, but the direction of reaction is contrary to superior handling. I'll take the low fender, thank you. Playing around on the dirt, you should never need anything different than the stock unit that keeps the mud off your face very well. - --- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rev. I'm pretty new to KLRs too. I haven't ridden it much in this beautiful weather (sigh) since I have it in pieces all over the garage getting upgrades, cleaning and lubing. I don't know about the Kendas. I have an IRC GP110 on the back and a Cheng Sh*$ (ooops) on the front. The IRC is good on the road but a bit slick in the snow/cold mud. The front doesn't seem adequate for any of my riding tastes and will probably come off soon. Anyway what I really wanted to say was that I would gladly send you my Canary in trade for your SuperCrapp. Hell I'll even clean the mud off of it before I send it to you. I've been looking for something to replace the stock pipe. hipersports.com has an IDS on sale for $130. I haven't spent much time shopping around but a cheap aftermarket pipe is in my future. I'll gladly buy used from those that prefer the song bird on their ass all day. The Autozone muffler didn't appeal to me very much but hey what do I know. There's some fantastic forest access road around here in BC, and it'd be great to get the lady friend up there with me (not that she wouldn't drive herself, she used to race motocross!). Is it feasible to have camping equipment, food for a couple of days, and two people on the bike, or is that pushing it?
