And they are more than welcome to sell products out of their motel room, tent, RV or whatever. I will not be making provisions for them to setup at the dinners or the evening activities however, as these are reserved for the speakers and nightly entertainment we are setting up -more on that later. I will gladly announce at the reception on the first night that vendors are present and will announce where they will be setting up shop. I know this policy has lots of people scratching their heads and wondering why I am doing this. The Utah Get-Together started as group of us, long before DSN, getting together every year in Moab and riding. In the evening, we would all meet for dinner and tell stories of our great adventures of the day and the next day we did it all over again. We rode, we ate, we enjoyed each others company. That's why I have always tried to refer to this as a Get-Together. It is a philosphy that has long been absent from the now traditional motorcycle rally that more resembles a flea market/three ring circus. Also this year, I'm voluntarily cutting down on the number of door prizes. Basically I want people to come to Moab for the camaraderie, riding and relaxation of the event, not the hype, door prizes and vendors. If I were a vendor, I would be attending this Get-Together more than any other because it is an excellent opportunity to get out and associate with riders of all caliber. As a rule, I think the Get-Together attracts true, honest riders, not rally zombies wondering where their rally pin is. You'd get true honest feedback because you would be with true, honest riders. Has anybody worked out a better solution to the airflow problem than either 1) taking off the windscreen, or 2) installing a very high windscreen? I ride my KLR with no windscreen, and I like it. There is very little buffeting. But I have been considering an experiment with some really ugly PVC pipe, to wit: Carve said pipe into large airscoops that taper to jets. Mount them on the fairing. Use them to redirect air past the sides of the riders head. The idea: those jets of air will be at higher velocity. Therefore, the pressure in the vicinity will be lower. The reduced pressure will then change the direction of air that otherwise would cruise up the fairing and into the face. Does it work like that? If so, why isn't it done? Thanks for putting up with my ignorance. -Spike Visit the KLR650 archives at http://www.listquest.com/lq/search.html?ln=klr650 Support Dual Sport News... dsneditor@softhome.net To subscribe/unsubscribe send message to majordomo@lists.xmission.com leave subject blank. While it is *convenient* to have vendables located in the same area... No-one should have anything to complain about then. =^) Just a thought... if this was a big deal to some of the vendor's, they could reserve a tent site at the campgrounds and use it solely for the purpose of setting up shop. I think a tent site is $15 a day... so that would be a cheap solution. > I know this policy has lots of people scratching their heads and wondering why I am doing this.
