Has anyone combined the >Supertrapp IDS2 with the Dyna Jet re-jetting kit, and the K&N filter in the >stock box? If you have, how many discs did you end up with? How often have >you had to repack the IDS2, with what type of riding? Any tips, or tricks >with this arrangement? This is the setup I have been running. I have eight discs in the Trapp. Until saturday I was using the 140 main and the needle on the middle notch and the pilot screw at 3-1/2 turns out per the instructions in the kit. Saturday I took a little ride up into the Sierras and noticed the power was very flat throughout the band. This was the first time at altitude since rejetting. The bike ran better after rejetting but I knew it was rich on the pilot system as I no longer needed the choke (enrichener). After about 100 miles in the Sierras I went home and rejetted the carb. I installed the 136 main dropped the needle one notch and set the pilot screw at 2-1/2 turns. WOW!! I couldn't believe the difference. When I went out on a test ride, I actually wheelied about 50 feet up the freeway onramp. Not bad with my 300 pound lard ass on baord. After repacking the Trapp, first time what a pain in the ass, I called it a day. Sunday morning got up early and met a bunch from my local club (I am the tour director) for a ride north in the Sierras to Sonora. I had to use the choke to get started by was able to turn it off after about two minutes. After a 350 mile trip using every twisty minor road we could find, I am sure the jetting is right now. I was able to run with an several sport bikes all day, even amazed a few of them. My fuel milage is up from 38-40 mpg to 43-45 mpg running very hard. The bike ran very well all day and seemed to have a much crisper exhaust note but that could have been due to the repack of the Trapp. Also showed everyone the ride the usefulness of having a dual sport. South of Sonora there is a river crossing with bridge over the Stanislaus River. The road heading down into the canyon has been patched but never resurfaced for the last 20 years or so. Very steep downhill grade with a surface of potholes and lumps of patching and very little of the original paving. Also just wide enough for one car. When meeting anyone other than a bike you have to get off the side which is a 12" deep rut on both sides. I arrived at the bottom and waited for 20 minutes for the rest of my group. I had met two large pickups on the way down and just put it in the rut until past. Then I managed to wrestle the bike back out of the rut and continue. My buddies were not so lucky. They had to turn around and go back to the top twice to let the traffic go by. Lucky this streatch is only about 4 miles long. All in all a very good weekend with some of the best riding ever.
