I checked into it last year, and you can get a nitrous injection system for about $600 (plus medical bills). 55hp boost - for 3 minutes. Then, all you need is a big, squishy, low-slung seat, leather bags with fringes, ape-hanger bars, tank emblem, 4-foot windscreen, lowering kit, oversized disk - and a chrome hood ornament - and your KLR is the perfect bike! -Spike PS. I am looking for protection, comfort, and >water resistance. I would like to stay under $200.00 USD. I am very happy with my Combat Touring boots. Here's a little test report I wrote some time ago... Firstly you feel like "Jack the lad" or "cock o'the North" or whatever your local term is for "the dog's bollocks". In other words you feel and probably look tough, mean and ready for some serious biking. This is good. None of those nancy-boy multicolored designs, these mean mothers are just plain black. The stitching and sole though are a kind of beige colour which to me looks sort of strange, but after a couple of coats of black shoe-polish everything is now all moody and mean. I ordered the exact size that I wear for a quality shoe and when I first put them on I thought they were a little snug. But after a day of riding around and walking in them they became extremely comfortable. After five days of riding in them they felt great and I didn't experience one sore-point or blister. The quality of the construction is very good and in my opinion very good value for the money. The leather although very thick is not hard. The speed lacing system is excellent although there is a lot of lace to be hidden away. The boot then fastens with two large leather tabs using velcro and a buckle with a micro-adjustment. The buckle is very clever as you can radically change the fit of the boot by loosening or tightening the strap the buckle engages with. I experimented some with this until I found a comfortable position. I'm sure that if the leather stretches a lot on the future I will be able to make them snug again using this feature. I felt that the boot offered a great deal of support and protection. It made me feel, like all good safety gear, more confident and protected. And once worn in they were flexible enough for easy gear changes. I didn't have a chance to test their waterproofness as it didn't rain on my trip, but the design is such that there are no laces or exposed areas where water could pool and in theory it should run off. The only problem would be if you abused them and didn't waterproof them. Then they could get saturated I suppose. New the boots are finished in a matt polish which I'm sure you can maintain using some silicone sealant but after my trip I dusted off the road dust etc and gave them a good polish using regular shoe-polish. They came up beautifully and now have the great shiny patina that you see on motorbike cop boots. One caveat is that I found them too wide to fit under my style of jeans, but with boots this cool looking you really want to show them off so I wear them outside my jeans and feel reasonably confident that I don't look like a total wanker doing this. Even if you do (highly unlikely) - nobody is going to dare say anything to you. Les Since I wrote the above I have worn them in some terrible downpours with no leakage and have found that they just make it under my jeans. I have also worn them walking about for hours on end and although not the most comfortable walking shoe they are okay. ____________________________________________ http://www.leshall.com Visit the KLR650 archives at http://www.listquest.com/lq/search.html?ln=klr650 Support Dual Sport News... dsneditor@softhome.net To subscribe/unsubscribe send message to majordomo@lists.xmission.com leave subject blank.
