Howdy. I took my carb out this weekend to find out what it's problem is, particularly at small throttle openings. The first thing I discovered, after drilling out the plug, is that the pilot screw was fully seated. Shouldn't this be backed out at least 1 and a half turns? I backed it out a bit, slapped the carb back in, but, alas, my problem remained. I was hoping for a quick fix. Now I've got the carb out again and will break it down to look for clogged jets and such. Question 2 is, when putting the seat back on, where does the plastic flange on the front of the seat go? Does it go in between the two metal supports for the tank or underneath the bottom piece of metal. I don't have an owner's manual to look this up in. Thanks. I was just wondering if anyone has ever thought about rubber mounting the engine in the Klr frame. I've been turning it over in my head the last couple of days and came up with a design for front and upper motor mounts that might just work. To what extent I don't know. It requires making some new mounts but I'm going to start on this next week. I'll keep everyone informed if it works or not. I also wanted to say that I started to make some plans for pvc saddle tubes. Can we all say Cheap Tuff Waterproof and Lockable. I got some big 10 inch tube and it's the perfect size for my sleeping bag, tent and other gear. These will also protect the bike very well if the misfortunate spill does happen. That and I won't kill myself for messing up my expensive aluminum box if I do crash. IT! Well, I'm a little over 100 miles into my newly rebuilt top end, and MAN is it hard staying under 4krpm! :P Already I've had a couple of forays to 5k and one to six or seven, and I HAVE 15x39 sprockets! This is gonna be tough, but I don't have to go the full 500 miles on just a new top end do I? :) First problem, my turnsignals stopped working altogether a couple of miles after I put it back together from the rebuild. I figured I bumped a connector loose but I checked all that. I did the checks in the manual: I have continuity across the flasher relay and there's power at it's connector when I turn on the turnsignals. I don't believe that I burned out all four bulbs simultaneously ( I didn't rev it THAT high! :-) ) And I don't think I tore four wires out of the harness all at once. Anybody know what I should check next? Where are the other single point failures in the turnsignal wiring? I have a helluva time with that manual schematic. Yick. Cheers everybody?
