I put it on and am dissappointed by the quality of the fit. Air is escaping between the muffler and the intermediate pipe despite using a silicone gasket. Also, I think the initial design is poor... the muffler wants to be fitted several inches further forward ie. pushed all the way over the intermediate pipe ..but then it won't line up with the muffler retaining mount. This is my third Supertrapp so I know how they can fit well. Other KLR owners have had simmilar comments see KLR webpage. Please advise. Dave Cook. It's NOT a good idea to run the motorcycle AT ALL with that much oil, so drain the extra oil now before you ride it again. It seems you need to have a little talk with your service department. Assembly and installation were easy tasks. However, I do have a beef with the muffler core. I was running the Trapp with 9 discs. After my trip to Florida, I decided to open it up a bit by adding the remaining three that came with the kit. When I tried to remove the screws that hold the discs, two of the three torqued in half! Note that I used plenty of the anti-sieze that they provided. I then had to take the can off the bike and drive out the core (not to big a task). I put vice grips on what was left of the two screws. When I turned them out, BOTH weld nuts on the back of the core snapped off!! I hate down-time, so I installed the additional discs with the core out and used new screws with the broken nuts behind the plate. BUT this means I have to disassemble the can if I want to install more discs. Should I bitch at ST? Yes, the GPS can indicate your AVERAGE velocity, which is point A to point B, divided by the time it took for you to get there. Not all GPS tracking fixes are that quick, though, so the time interval between fixes isn't small enough for what you really want, your INSTANTANEOUS velocity, or you speed, right at this moment, which is what your speedo is good at approximating. I point this out, because I don't think that a GPS would be good for getting your speed for street driving, like in speed zones and such. Sounds to me like you should go for the bicycle speedometer setup. Much cheaper way to go. Jeff > >Group, >Excuse my ignorance, but did you indicate the the GPS unit will indicate >your speed???? I have the Kawasaki taller windshield, and at 6'2", the wind hits me right at the neck when sitting upright. And my helmet is above the wind buffeting. Basically, this is the best you can do. If you go taller with the shield, your helmet will get seriously buffeted by the winds coming over and around the shield, which can be very loud. When I go real fast, I croutch down, with my eyes just above the top of the shield, and I have a really comfortable, quiet ride, with just enough force from the wind on the top of my helmet to make this positions comfortable. While there are taller shields out there, Rifle and Clearview, I like the Kawa one the best. You have to keep in mind that you're not going to get a Goldwing ride on the KLR.
