The picture in the catalog shows what may be a DR350 under it. The cover looks to be translucent gray. I suspect it will pack down small enough to be practical to carry, but being PVC you'd want to wait till the exhaust cools to touch before putting it on. It's good for other uses. I tried the web site to see if the photo would be online, no luck, but the part number can be found. Here's the info - http://www.cheaperthandirt.com 1-888-625-3848 ZBF-189 Swiss Rain Cover 36x60x48" PVC $4.97 You can call to get a catalog sent to you or get one online. Mostly it's Military Surplus stuff, but they do have new consumer sporting goods. === Rex, A7 For Colorado Springs Dual Sport ride info: http://shell.rmi.net/~avbb/cos.htm _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Ted's right, get the tools from your local dealer (FRED!). I know a guy who ended up getting a new magneto rotor because he tried too hard to get the rotor off without the tool. Also, you can follow those magneto wires up to a connector ( I think) and disconnecdt them. Then you can set that side cover out of your way. I think you have discovered that nobody ever adjusted your counterbalancer chain tensioner and now it's failed. Probably after that, the chain skipped. You will need to follow the balancer timing instructions in the manual. Check for wear on the idler gears, balancer gears, especially the one on the end of the crankshaft. You should also check the "20 link length" of the chain as detailed in the manual. That should fix you right up. Cheers! At least one member of the Chicago area KLR riders will be on duty during the Moab rally. In a remarkable turn of events, I've committed my self to going to the Rally this year. I'm burning 6 (out of 19) vacation days by trailering the 98 KLR behind a Nissan 200SX SE-R (at least) 1340 miles to Moab from Chicago. Interstate the whole way stopping only for Gas, Munchies, Relief, and sleep. Some 21.5 hours. I'll be checking in at the Redstone Inn by 4pm Wed. 6/3. I'm estimating a total cost of $1200 for travel, living. I could have gone to Tahiti!. The check is already in the mail for registration. Does anybody need anything from Chicago (Polish sausage, Italian Beef, Deep dish pizza)? Let me know. This will be the pinnacle of my Motorcycle riding life. I'm hoping to meet some new friends and see things I've never seen before. I hope you guys/gals can put up with me for this long. I'm one of those know it all types. Just ask me. I feel a bit envious, as I can't go because of summer school, but I'm sure that you'll represent the Chicago Area KLRists Chapter well. Enjoy and bring us back a report. BTW, I'm still thinking about doing the day long ride in the Whitewater to Holy Hill area in WI for whoever is interested. The ride takes a few hours of straight through riding, all on paved roads of varying quality, and most of it is within 40 miles or so from Milwaukee. Some dates that look good to me so far are the 22nd of May, or the 29th of May, both Saturdays. Any of the Chicago Area KLRist let me know if you'd like to join me and what day works out best. If none of these work we'll figure somthing out. Bill S., you also mentioned before that some riders from your church group may come. They are all more than welcome (a KLR is not necessary, just advantageous for some of the roads we'll be on :) ), but the only thing I need to know is if there is some special protocol for riding in large groups. For example, what happens if we get split up. I was thinking of making up maps, but this can get complicated because I don't know that I am going to have a specific route layed out. These are things we can work out if we find out a larger group will be able to come. As far as food, there are family type restaraunts in a couple of spots along the way. I haven't tried them out personally, so I can't gaurantee the great food we had at the Cafe in Waucanda (good call Alex!), but that's ok because this get together will be for the ride, and not so much the food. Hell we could all pack a lunch and eat at some park for all I care (cool, it will be like a field trip in grade school!) Anyway, I want this ride to happen at some time, or more than one time. It don't matter to me if its a big or a small group, just as long as I can share some of the roads I've discovered over the past few years with some fellow riders. Hope to hear from you guys soon!! Oh, but it was on a slow 35-40mph curve. I just came in too hot and had to crank it over cause I had no where to go (off road was not an option as I don't think the KLR would have fared well against big oaks!). At that angle I don't know how well those gripsters were gripping, they were probably pretty close to giving up (thank God they didn't). I like to scrub in the whole width of my tires once in while, but I don't plan on repeating that stunt for a while.
