It comes and goes with rpm, in effect around 3000 or so the loudest. I can stop it with my right knee against the tank, pushing on the radiator or rear plastic doesn't seem to change it. While it makes a unique gas gauge, a well placed piece of weather strip or something would likely do the trick, just hoping for a head start on the source. On another subject, I got the green light to go to Moab for the Rally! Looking forward to meeting some of ya'll. I have a non-KLR event to add to the agena if it doesn't upset the Borg. I just have to mountain bike the Slick Rock trail while there, and would offer to lead a ride to that effect. For those riding out, rental mountain bikes are widely available. If this doesn't fit the spirit of the gathering I understand, but the offer still stands. I plan to KLR the white rim so it wouldn't be that day, but would have to be Friday or Saturday. If anyone is interested let me know off list or at the Rally. Why don't you lead a ride with your KLR? The Slick Rock Bike Trail is a motorcycle trail. Made by dirt bikes about 40 years ago. I would take my XR650L around with no problem, of course doing it about 1000 times helps me know where all the tricky spots are. For me the difficulty on a KLR would be too high, I personally would be nervous on a trials bike in a few spots. I can always carry 25 pounds up or down a hill that is to much for me, just can't get the KLR on my shoulder no matter how many Wheaties I've had. Russel or Fastline? Fastlines have a plastic liner on the length of the SS line. I thought about trying to put that spring thing on my Fastline too, but decided it was redundant and impossible. >Is it a problem that the rubber mounting-gaskets that hold the line near the >forks don't fit as tightly on the new line as they did on the old? > No, not a problem, so long as there isn't any extraneous slack in the line anywhere that can get bound up somewhere when the fork action happens, and the bars are turned from side to side. Don't forget to bleed that puppy well, and don't let the brake fluid get on anything. I just wanted to take this momemt to brag about my SS Fastline, that has a translucent BLUE plastic sheath, to match the blue on the rest of my A3.
