I have heard this controversy once before and don't really recall a consensus. Some say go heavy duty one rate, front and rear. Some swear progressive. It is apparent for both front and back there are these spring choices- 1)One rate springs 2)Heavy duty springs(twice the load) 3)Dual stage springs and 4)Progressive. Let's say your gear varies, you tour alot and ride white rims alot, sometimes you ride two up, otherwise-as beez put it-'your Jeremy McGrath and you weigh 300lbs' My questions are- which is best? and, why? Best educated guess? es? I find I share much of the philosophy and attitudes expressed. I couldn't quite connect with a suitably equipped KLR in time for my trip to Alaska, but I found a very nice Transalp. I will be leaving the first week in July. Fellow travelers watch for a white TA and a 750 Vulcan. If this works out, I plan on a South American trip. I live in Edgewood, NM and normally ride my VN1500. I will own a KLR, someday, and look forward to meeting other riders. I will enjoy the list for another two weeks. Thanks.
