I have recently bought a KLR 250 (99) and trust that your DS News will not discriminate with your smaller brethren. I read the article on lowering the 650, wish I had known that before I bought the 250 since the 650 was rejected due to the 'tall' saddle it has. I was wondering if you had any ideas for DS trips in the Minnesota area. We have lots of snowmobile trails but they are closed to motorcycles in the summer. I am looking forward to the first issue of DS News. Don't ask how I ended up with this mis-matched mess... I plan on passing through Moab on the way north and stopping at Fred's place for another new front tire. Maybe Fred can help me with my developing "tweet" problem too. Anyway, the bike is handling pretty good with the full (fool?) load. If I don't mess with it, it tracks well and feels stable. When I do stability tests at speed however, deliberately trying to induce speed wobbles, I find that I can make it oscillate pretty good over 70 mph, even with 42 psi front and 36 psi rear. I think that I'll just have to be careful, and not push it too hard. It almost feels like a steering damper would help. I'm trying to travel pretty light, but you know how it goes. I wonder if I really need that portable VCR? Or the tux and tails for the occasional formal evening on the town? Anyway, I'm unsubscribing for a while, til I get back, talk to y'all later!
