The first time is a learning experience, but it will totally familiarize you with your bike, and thus is invaluable experience. There is no doubt that adjusting the valves on the Honda RFVC head is much easier though. I have very fond memories of my old XL600R, but I definitely don't miss my daily trips to the gas station. I can agree up to a point. I would like to point out that a leading cause of motorcycle accidents is caused by a rider failing to negociate a curve or corner. Which basically means that the rider was going too fast. I have found that in a lot of cases, choosing the far right lane (the slow lane for you zany Brits and Ausies), and riding at exactly the speed limit solves almost all tailgating problems. Compensating for crossply tyre growth with speed adds its own complications but makes for a more accurate result. I'm not sure how Gearcalc got the 59.9 to 62.9 diff. 16/15 X 59.9 = 63.89333333333 by my onscreen calculator. Shouted at the top of your lungs. They were still allowed to take you back into there office and have "wall to wall counciling sessions" with you, and there are worse things than getting smacked around too. I guess that there was a congressional investigation there a while after I went through, and that isn't supposed to happen anymore. Shoot, the Drills aren't even supposed to swear anymore. I don't know how that works though, since they wouldn't have anything to say at all then. Myself, I never smarted off to the DS's, and always used the above answers. Yet me and my buddy would do things like walking around with our hands in our pockets to try and get in trouble, because we thought that getting smoked doing pushups was fun. Eventually, I got my entire platoon to feel the same way, and some of the DS's thought we were crazy. Great for motivation, getting smoked to muscle failure and falling on your face. I'll add that in most of those cases the bike was capable of taking the corner at that speed but the rider didn't believe it was. In this situation the rider is likely to look off the road to see what is going to be run into when the bike "inevitably" runs off, and the old bugbear of "target fixation" takes control.
