It seems the Kilimanjaro is the jacket of choice. I noticed on their web site a Kenya jacket. It seems to have most of the features of the 3/4 Kilimanjaro only in a shorter length which I'd be interested in. Now finding a local dealer that stocks them around here won't be easy. Richard, The Kili longer length is a definite bonus in the rain. It also seems to be the choice of taller riders. I like it because you can sit on the tail end and it keeps it from acting like a sail at high speeds. Fred at Arrowhead is probably your best bet for the best price and quickest responce time. I retrieved my KLR last Friday from the Twin Cities. Friday the temp in St Paul was 95F, certainly not the hottest place in the world but hotter than it gets in northern Wisconsin. I hit the highway as soon as I could to bet traffic and soon found myself on the interstate running 70mph. After slowing down some going through St Paul my bike started to surge heavy. As this happened one other hot day this summer I knew I could even it out with the choke (starter circuit) opened. It worked on the highway and I made to Hudson WI and headed north. After riding through Hudson at 20 to 30mph when I went to open it up, BOOM I was now a bucking bronco. The bike was shutting on and off so fast it was near impossible to stay on it. Thank god it stopped quickly after a the bike started cool. After this I had an idea. I stopped and removed my tank panniers strapped them on the tail, rehydrated and let the bike cool. On the rest of the trip the KLR ran great the rest of the way home. So I think on hot days from here on out the panniers ride on the tail. While I'm not able to sit on the tail of mine, I've never had any 'sailing' problems. When it gets warm and I open the vents in the front, I open the back too - giving all that air an escape route. The Kilimanjaro is cheaper and a little less capable (according to some folks) than the Darien but an excellent jacket just the same. In the waist length style I have heard some comments between the Firstgear Kenya and the Joe Rocket Meteor II. Is there any experience out there that agrees or disagrees?
