The Brits wanted to duplicate the chicken tests that we had been running. Our chicken test uses a special "chicken gun" that launches whole fryers at high velocity at a stationary aircraft in order to determine its structural integrity in the event of bird strikes, both on the fuselage and through the motors. The Brits set up and did a trial, and were horrified at the results. It seems that the chicken fryer not only went through the pilot's windshield, but through his seat as well! The Brits, astounded, asked the Americans for advice, and this is the instruction that they got back: "Thaw the chicken first!"
