I'm new to the list, so I aplogize in advance if these are old questions, but the answers will be new to me I'm thinking about setting up a Supermoto style KLR. Basically, I'm thinking handlebars, pipe and jetting, lowering, suspension, bigger front brake and 17" front wheel. Here's the questions: 1. I've read about some troubles with the Supertrapp systems, both EAR and IDS, what is the collective opinion of the Cobra? Are there any other choices? 2. I've seen a couple of upsize rotor kits, is one preferable to the other? 3. Now the big one. I have heard that a 17" front wheel, apparently from another kawasaki model, can be fitted to the KLR, and that it will bolt on and accept the KLR disc carrier. Does anybody have an idea what model wheel this might be? Thanks in advance for the answers, and any other input will be gratefully received. Alan. Gino, Thanks for all you've done. I'll say it again - you started something that I think is going to be big, and you have been responsible for some of the most objective reviews I've seen anywhere. You also went out of your way to make the information nearly free - at first I didn't get it, being the capitalist pig that I am, but now I do. I'm watching to see if Redondo and Kurt are going to jack up that pitiful advertising policy of yours. The other annoying thing that I'll miss (unless you are gonna do freelance) is the uncertain feeling I had after reading your stuff. I never quite got how you really felt about things. Maybe someday we can meet at a fern restaurant and talk about it over a bowel of sprouts.. Thanks for all you've done for me, and for your subscribers. What you've done has made life much more fun. So my battery became too weak to energized the starter solenoid. I already had all my switches bypassed. This turned out to be my fault, as it's a very tight fit, and when I put it back together after moving the fuses to under the sidestand switch cover (and converting them to blade types), evidently I didn't re-assemble it properly. It first manifested itself as the headlight intermittently dimming over a period of several days. When it comes to troubleshooting intermittents, I generally subscribe to the "run it till pukes" philosophy, with all the attendant consequences... Tom Meagher Houston TX (a.k.a. Yes it would, but a lot of that depends on how you pack it. When I ride with my bike loaded up, I put the heavy stuff low on the bike in either my rear panniers or tank panniers. Use the tail case for light weight items and you should be fine. BTW, please post in "plain" text mode to the list. Thanks.
