Bogdan, The Acerbis disc guard will only fit the stock rotor. Now there, that wasn't painful was it? I also got in some of the illusive Panama Red shock springs for the KLR for you larger riders (Arne are you listening?), along with some Mikuni Performance Carb Kits for the KLR. I found a neat gizmo for my XR. It is a dip stick oil temperature guage. Works pretty neat. This works fine for road trips and for a moderate amount of dirt road travel. It might even be possible to do some trails. But the fact remains, the bike is heavily loaded and not at it's optimum for 'playing in the dirt'. I was thinking an ideal way to enjoy a long weekend with a KLR would be to mount an easily detatchable trailer hitch to which a very small trailer could be towed. The trailer would only have to carry about 100 pounds. That would allow for a fairly luxurious camp (tent, sleep bag, some spare clothing and equipment, folding chair, small cooler, small stove, etc). Upon arriving at the campsite -- which happens to be near some challanging off road riding area -- the trailer would be detatached, as would the towing hitch. This would leave a bare bones KLR. One that would be more fun to ride for a day or two in the dirt, etc. Then, reattatch and pull it all back home. I dislike the idea of using pick up trucks and car trailers to tow a perfectly good motorcylce. This idea appeals to me -- you get more riding time for you weekend. The question is -- who makes such hitch and who makes a nice lite weight trailer? I doubt if those bicycle trailers would work becasue of the high speeds that would be experienced. Any ideas? I also cut off a metal sheath the covers the perforated tube that actually runs out the end of the pipe. Hopefully this will get rid of the tweety and open things up a little at the same time. I'll let the list know how things turn out once I find someone to weld it back up. In the meantime, I need check with you guys if the stock exhaust is actually made of stainless steel. He said they are a long ways away from making a formal debut in the U.S. He offered to answer any questions anyone has and says the thing is truly 340 lbs...no lie. I was surprised by the motard look until I checked their website and found that the motard part is a kit that they offer as an alternative to the high fender bigger front wheel knobby tire stocker.
