Then yesterday it ran like it had a clogged air filter. So last night I took the door of the air box to discover that some intrepid field mice had built a nest in the air box over the weekend. There was plenty of junk and two dead mice in there. With the cooler nights here in rural New Mexico, this is pretty common. If you live in a rural area and your bike exhibits air starvation symptoms, check for mice. Sarah, (from someone who has not met you) I was glad to hear that your injuries were not serious, but please see a doc (and a lawyer) anyway, if you haven't already. We mere citizens need all the help we can get in the legal arena, and we've all heard often enough that some injuries take time to show themselves. Ride safe, and here's hoping that this person, who was more concerned about saving her driver's license than about helping you, is caught. It's stupid when they don't see us, but it's vicious when they leave us to die... -Spike Visit the KLR650 archives at http://www.listquest.com/lq/search.html?ln=klr650 Subscribe to Dual Sport News...write to Editor@dualsport.org for info. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Sep 1999 10:06:04 -0400 From: "Cassell, Jonathan Z" Subject: (klr650) Aftermarket horn question Hello, Listers, Who has replaced the stock rubber-duckie horn with one that commands some respect (or that can simply be heard above traffic noise)? Does anyone have a recommendation for decibel level, brand, etc? I don't care so much about the dB level, just that I had seen a couple for (I think) 120db, and that seemed a tad too forceful. And as for sounding like a Beemer, that's OK. Just didn't want to sound like a Mack! This doesn't include shipping and long distance calls. I think I'll stick with ordering the NADY MA-200 alarm for $167 US shipped to my dealer. Yea, it may/may not interfere with the bikes electronics. I have never had a lot of problems with electricity (patience and persistence works!). With this model (MA-200) I have the privilege of meeting the culprit and offering him/her a full body massage for free! The lock/alarm does look interesting. But to have an audible alarm sounding off without me knowing it for 12 hours, my gosh. It has happened to me with my '82 Bronco. My cat (Siamese, 24 pounds of muscle) jumped on/off it and the alarm would go off. My neighbors would get sooooo angry, screaming out of their windows. That sucked. Thank goodness I was there to disarm it. I can't stand it when an alarm goes off and the owner is not around to disarm the darn thing. When I had a '67 full race and car show ready VW it had a pager alarm. What sucked with that one was when my brother would come home at 2,3,4am push my car. The alarm would page me (no sound at the car) and I would come running done with my Louisville slugger just to see my drunk-'okole brother checking his watch for the time it took me to get to the car. Anyways, it is great to receive updates like the lock/alarm. I'm actually taking a First Aid Trauma class the weekend of 10-9. So I'll get a list there of stuff to treat traumas away from civilization and ambulances.
