From: **************** Subject: (kw) www.kraftwerk.com Date: 04 Jan 1980 00:46:48 -0000 Another fleeting visit to the 'official' Kraftwerk web site makes me = question it's authenticity again. I'm prepared to be ridiculed for = saying this, but I'm convinced that www.kraftwerk.com is a spoof. Those = who've seen 'This is Spinal Tap' will understand what a rock spoof is. Why would they use such retarded computer graphics on their web site. = Both CW and EC used state of the art images, which dispels the notion = that Kraftwerk use retro minimalism by default. Also the site is unprofessional. Why only include a video clip from the = Tribal Gathering but not from Karlsruhe or Linz?? There site has not = been designed in a coherent or serious way. I could have built it in a = 2-3 hours. Also the site never seems to be updated, the biggest crime a = web master can committ. I challenge anyone to prove the sites authenticity. I'll be happy to be = proved wrong. mode # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info kraftwerk" in the message. # Postings must go to kraftwerk@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: **************** Subject: RE: (kw) www.kraftwerk.com Date: 04 Jan 1980 04:02:26 -0000 >Because those computer graphics ARE Kraftwerk!! They live buy these = standards! Old computer technology in todays world. Their website smells = and feels like Kraftwerk. It is just as a Kraftwerk webpage should be. = Its simple, cool and in real Kraftwerk style. I understand by your = letter you have never attended a live Kraftwerk consert. < CW and EC used state of the art computer graphics. These are still being = used now (15 years later) when Kraftwerk play live, so obviously they = now look dated. The above comment suggests that Kraftwerk have always = used 'old computer technology in today's world', this is clearly not = true. The technology is old now but wasn't when Kraftwerk originally = used it. >They use the same computer graphics on stage on the video screens. I = hope Kraftwerk will never go "modern". < As I stated, these graphics were modern when first used. IMO there are 2 = reasons why they haven't changed: 1) Kraftwerk can not afford a multimedia hi-tech extravaganza of the = likes undertaken by U2 and others. 2) Kraftwerk are lazy and lacking in inspiration. They simply don't = understand or have the motivation to understand what is now possible = with computer technology. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info kraftwerk" in the message. # Postings must go to kraftwerk@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: **************** Subject: RE: (kw) www.kraftwerk.com Date: 04 Jan 1980 00:25:46 -0000 >>1) Kraftwerk can not afford a multimedia hi-tech extravaganza 2) Kraftwerk are lazy and lacking in inspiration. << PRODUKT 01 wrote:- >People who make underhanded comments like this shouldnt be allowed to = read or post on this list ...........you are kidding right? Firstly, I didn't = mention Depeche Mode (or Dapeche mode as you call them) in my original = e-mail. I unashamedly referenced U2 and here's why.... The U2 Zooropa tour was a hi-tech extravaganza built around the latest = multi-media technology. This was in keeping with the character of the = U2 albums from Achtung Baby onwards which have all utilised technology = that didn't even exist when Kraftwerk made their last new album = (Electric Cafe).=20 Contrast the above with the Kraftwerk live show. Sadly it has basically = remained unchanged since the early 80's. OK, there have been = modifications, but no radical innovations or new ideas. The Computer = World tour used what were hi-tech video screens to display what were = state of the art graphics, intermingled with images of the past, eg the = TEE trains. Kraftwerk were mixing the old and the new. In 1997, = Kraftwerk are still using the same type of screen with the same = graphics. They are now mixing the old with the even older. Kraftwerk has = not developed, effectively time has stood still in their world. Other = bands like U2 now use enormous video displays and other highly = sophisticated technology as a routine part of their live show. =20 PRODUCKT I am genuinely sorry if you are offended. Remember, Kraftwerk = will always be a great band. However, unless they can reshape the mould = again - as they did with Autobahn, TEE, MM, CW - they will no longer = hold the title of being the greatest innovators of pop music.=20 regards, mode.123 "Il faut cultiver notre jardin" ("We must cultivate our garden") Fran=E7ois-Marie Arouet =00=00 # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info kraftwerk" in the message. # Postings must go to kraftwerk@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender.
