Out of the four music lists I belong to, this is the only one that has real life to it, since one list is pretty much dead, the other two only discuss which album come out when, which should be a part of a list discussion, but not the whole discussion. I would not be putting together any mixes with KW and the PSB's or Aqua though,....unless of course Jules wants to lend me his Aqua collection!!!!!!!!! (just kidding Jules). What other groups/artists interest you= ? Hello there, I for one used to listen to his records quite a lot, but gradually lost interest after the album "Waiting For Cousteau". Chronologi=E9 and the ne= w parts of Oxygene just were not as interesting as his earlier stuff. At th= e same time I enjoyed his new material too when I saw him perform live here in Finland last spring. All in all, I have wondered quite a lot why he hasn't done any more stuff like the Zoolook album from -84, which in my opinion was a real landmark = in music made with samplers. My other favorites are Oxygene and The Concerts in China, the latter of which contains some superb material like The Arpeggiator and The Night In Shanghai. Anyway, in comparison to Kraftwerk I find JMJ to be more lightheaded, 'mo= od music' if you wish. Kraftwerk to me is more energetic and 'giggly' music (makes me laugh at times) and the concepts and ideas more thought out. It doesn't mean that Kraftwerk's better, just different. The best thing abou= t Jarres music to me is its openness, especially Zoolook gives loads of exciting soundscapes to 'fill in' with ones own imagination. If its of any interest, my other (electronic) favorites are: Beck Depeche Mode Aphex Twin Luke Vibert/ Plug/ Wagon Christ Thomas Dolby Stereolab Recoil Ryuichi Sakamoto Revolting Cocks Money Mark $ Some electronic Herbie Hancock records, old skool and also the new groove-based hip hop & rap music like Tek 9, D= J Shadow, LL Cool J, Snoop Doggy Dogg etc. That's about it. Cheers, Christer P.S. I, too, always thought that AOR stands for Adult Oriented Rock like Chicago, Toto and the like. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info kraftwerk" in the message. # Postings must go to kraftwerk@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 11 Feb 1998 09:22:04 -0000 From: Jon Alsbury Subject: electronica (again) / (kw) Re: Firestarter Jono wrote: >electronica?
