I think she has a wonderful voice and >I don't find them crap at all... I've found that everyone has a different opinion of Laurie Anderson, and not always positive. No matter, even if she has 'sold out' or 'lost it' in recent days, nothing will ever change the impact that her early work had on me. I don't compare her voice to vocalists, as I put her 'performance art' in its own category. She doesn't conform anyway. Her Big Science, United States I-IV and Mister Heartbreak EDUCATED me in my high school days on being true to myself and believing in individuality. I don't listen to Strange Angels or Bright Red much, however, as I find them lacking compared to her early works. As for William Burroughs, I have IMMENSE respect for the man, and adore Naked Lunch. While I'm rambling, I may as well mention Richard James (Aphex Twin) who has also had a profound effect on my consciousness - truly 'honest' introverted music, IMHO.
