AFAIK (i could be wrong) Vertigo is a division of Phillips record label which is the label on to which KW were signed at the time. and the VEL-2003 is the catalog number for the original American pressing of the album. i also have the 1985 Warner Brothers reissue of Autobahn on LP and the EMI CD you mentioned. the interesting thing about this record is that there is a misprint on side two of the LP. the time length of "Mitternacht" is given as 4:40, when in fact if you time the song it is exactly 1 minute less -- 3:40. i think it's just a misprint because the other releases of the album have 3:40 as the time and the song is not different in any way. about the cover: now the long haired hippie guy is Klaus Roeder. since he was no longer in the band at the time of reissue of the Autobahn LP KW probably decided not to use the origianl artwork and picture on the reissue LP sleeve. this is my assumption by the way, not a fact. it's sort of interesting that they would do that, give Roeder less credit on reissue than on original. i don't think that this LP is terribly rare (i got mine in Chicago for $4), but since yours is a promo copy it might be more rarer, but probably not much more valuable. also, if you look just to the left of the steering wheel on the dashboard you see a picture of Emil Schult. lenny g Ilych@aol.com wrote: > >My brother just purchased an old Autobahn LP with the dashboard clearly in >view on the bottom of the album cover. In recent years, Vertigo issued albums from LA Guns and other similar bands. I think a site is somewhere, which can be accessed from www.polygram.com.
