Benedikt Rochow" Subject: Re: (kw) Sueddeutsche Zeitung on Kraftwerk Just brilliant. Without saying so at all, they give the impression that KW display swastikas. Great sentence, on the way there: "At the same time as KW, the New York Dolls and the Sex Pistols concerned themselves with / utilized icons of Germanness and fascism." i.e. KW did too. ("At the same time" is even less ambiguous in German to connect KW with the later verbs of the sentence). And they quote the critic Lester Bangs as "being afraid of then". Oh yes, by way of (apprently) German-developed Speed, taken by by US druggie artists, "the Reich [I guess that's how he would have said it in English] never died; it was reincarnated in American archetypes." Sure. An earlier quote: He was asked "Where is rock music going?" Answer, very quickly, "It's being/will be taken over by the Germans and their machines" - meaning not only musicians, but also 'the chemical industry', which in the mid-70s obviously was a direct connection to the inventors of Speed in WW II which were now taking over minds in the US. Huh? BTW, his grave knowledge comes from a meeting with Florian Huetter und Ralf Schneider during their '75 US tour. Keine Ahnung! And the journalist is swallowing it all whole. "H. and S. emphasized their might, as machine-complex and laboratory, to manipulate the audience and physically grasp them." I bet. With those xylophones on the '75 tour? Puh-leeze. Just when my loathing of the German media was wearing off.... - -gbr On Thu, 15 Apr 1999, Klaus Zaepke wrote: > > > Todays edition of the Sueddeutsche Zeitung features an essay on Kraftwerk, > Rammstein and Fascism. > The article (German language) is online at > http://www.sueddeutsche.de/aktuell/feuill_e.htm (only today). > > Klaus Zaepke # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info kraftwerk" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email kraftwerk@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # Other questions? Can anyone confirm them playing this while on stage interacting with gear to match the sound ? (The windows were covered) Henning was the only one on stage during the post sound check as far as I saw. In-between some pre record house Trax could be heard. (not from the stage but the central DJ booth) I was standing right next to the stage while Henning was programming and I recall music in the same vein as the songs in those mp3s in the air of that shitty venue. The unreleased material(?) from Denmark was said to have no beat & was quite free form/abstrack. here NoW # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info kraftwerk" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email kraftwerk@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # Other questions? Between what songs? The following is quoted from the Aktivitaet fanzine, issue 10 (http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/aktivitaet/10_live.htm): Even more... Kraftwerk performed a further two previously unreleased songs at the soundcheck for the Karlsruhe concert, bringing the total number of new tracks performed this year to five. The tracklisting for the Karlsruhe soundcheck is reported as: 'Nummern', 'Computerwelt', 'Heimcomputer', 'Die Mensch Maschine', Completely New Song 1, 'Autobahn', Completely New Song 2, 'Radioactivity', Second new song from the concert. NB; at the soundcheck only portions of the songs were performed, not the complete numbers. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info kraftwerk" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email kraftwerk@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # Other questions? Automat, I was joking: the only thing Schneider TM has to do with Kraftwerk is the name. if you remember my message about them, I told that i listened to them live, they are about a sort of improvisated trance dance sometimes too experimental or jazzy (or they just loose control) with a couple of 303 and some effect. I did not like them a lot. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info kraftwerk" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email kraftwerk@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # Other questions? The latter is far more interesting, diverse and experimental. My question is: regarding the Technopop demo, was that all there was?? Or were there other pieces as well?
