Sounds like you've been out of the loop for a while. Kraftwerk released an album called "The Mix" in 1991, which contains updated digital reworkings by KW of some of their past songs, including "The Robots", "Radioactivity", "Music Non Stop", "Trans Europe Express", "Autobahn", "Home Computer", etc. The release of "The Mix" was accompanied by live concerts in Europe during the very early 1990s. Then after a long pause, KW finally performed once again at the Tribal Gathering in Luton Hoo back in 1997, followed by a more extensive tour of Europe and the U.S. in 1998. And that brings you up to the present. Rumours have persisted about the potential of a new album to this day. I discovered this fact when a friend informed me that the figures I had assumed were Ralf and Florian at the Detroit KW concert last year were, in fact, the "Mensch-Maschine - Mark V," designed by HAL Laboratories of Urbana, Illinois (the same firm that developed the "Fidel Castro - Mark XII"). It turns out that Fritz Hilpert and Henning are their operators, and that it is their task to continue performing KW's old songs without any alteration whatsoever until the secret gets out. It now appears that they will soon be looking for new work. ******************************************************************************* John Morgan "I must invent my own system, or be Student Services, enslaved by another man's." SINGLE?) > Strange enough, but noone here noticed that KW single was listed either. > Does it implies that there were some rumors about it? Anyone knows? Klaus? Yes, this single (as well as the album) was originally announced by EMI Toshiba, Japan, for (I think) a spring 1997 release, but of course it was cancelled. If the data can still be found in some record shop catalogues, it simply means that the record dealers haven't cleaned up their databases, that's all. These announcements didn't mean a lot anyway, since they came from Japan, and Japanese release lists aren't very reliable in general. This is a bit late, but what the heck. >my name is Kenny Berube from Boston. I have a question. someone told me years >ago that the group Kraftwerk had all died in a plane crash. is that true? or Kenny, Yes, they did die in a plane crash. They have since been replaced by robots, as evidenced on the cover of their first post-partum release The Mix. Many re-releases have followed, with no new songs which further supports the crash theory. Also, all the fans who recently attended concerts by Kraftwerk, at least that's what the performers called themselves, spoke of robots with synthetic heads cast in the likeness of the allegedly deceased performing and dancing to the songs. This, my friend, is the greatest achievement in robotics since the Six-Million-Dollar-Man. All in good humor, and thanks for making me laugh Sincerely, Chris # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info kraftwerk" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email kraftwerk@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # Other questions? Schluss damit! A waste of time? Jeez... wait until you read about this: Play "Sex Object" backwards and you'll hear Ralf Lennon and Florian McCartney in the background singing: "hey, this is what we're talking about men, computer love forever, yeah, yeah, and by the way, we're not dead, yet!!" and if you watched the last episode of the teletubbies, you'll see the purple character with a little neon movie poster promoting the new KW movie (yeap, the NEW MOVIE) "The Full Krafty-Monty part II" Anyway, I agree with you, this is nonsense... and so what? if you want, we can go back to the Afrika Bambaataa topic and the phone number deal of the "Telephone Call"... now that's juicy stuff!! What else can we do? Any ideas? I'll say: lets sit down and wait until the new record comes around.. somebody get a fire started... I'll take care of the marshmallows... and while we're at it, can anybody bring a Deutsche-English dictionary? KW4EVER!
