No offence, but as I've hinted before, that is an absolutely _ludicrous_ suggestion! I've no idea how such a rumour would start, except perhaps as a joke. Come on, listen to anything by Kraftwerk and anything by Stockhausen, compare their working methods or read quotes by either party... Although Stockhausen's work is often 'electronic' in origin (and played back on tape) his music often involves a degree of improvisation during performance (there's a duet piece involving a singer and a short wave radio, for example), something which seems rather absent from Kraftwerk's shows (well, I know it's not jazz). I suppose Ralf&Florian was the last album featuring a large amount of improvised Kraftmusik. Kraftwerk's idea of the relationship of performer and audience seems very definitely conventional, with perhaps the 1980's live Pocket Calculator -- holding the mini instruments out into the audience for the crowd to play -- being an exception. One of Stockhausen's orchestral pieces requires three full orchestras, ideally positioned in a triangle formation around the audience; imagine Kraftwerk's music played through a 'tri-phonic' PA system surrounding the audience! Now if only they'd done that at Tribal Gathering... # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info kraftwerk" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email kraftwerk@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # Other questions? Just what DOES Wolfgang say that >violates Kraftwerk's privacy? Details, please... With photographs and >schematics if necessary... It's, well, private stuff. It ranges from uninteresting and tasteless to just uninteresting. Early on, something about WF masturbating as a teenager (even if one doesn't consider it to be in bad taste, it's still utterly inconsequential); later, mostly stuff about groupies. Again, utterly inconsequential, and it seems like just so much bragging. Speaking of an English version: There is at least one instance where WF uses "realisieren" in a sentence where only the meaning "recognize/understand" of the English "realize" makes sense; the German word does not at all have that meaning. It sounds rather like badly translated computer marketing hype (like "Sense and Sensibility", the German cinema title for which meant "Sense and Sensuality", slight difference) in sentences like that, while most of the book seems rather flat in style, with many lapses into an odd conversational style, as if one started an English sentence with "Gee whiz, it sure was swell how ...." Another low point are the pictures of the MB 600 - I can understand that he had to recreate them for the book, but having a current-style license tag with EU badge that makes it obvious how new the photo is really shows too little attention to detail in a book where the author can predict that all photos will be scrutinized due to their rarity. On the upside, what does the 'El Senor Coconut' CD cost in Germany? Anyway, have a look at http://klingklang.dyndns.org/av/ (only available 18:00-00:00 M-F BST and 24hrs weekend) and let me know what you think. BTW... if you get an error, something might have gone terribly wrong so don't try too hard to get a look! Oh yeah, I posted that autobahn animation a couple of weeks ago... well some people have requested a larger version so I've put a version up that's about four times bigger in size...erm...dimensions... and the file size is about 20% bigger, or rather it would be if had all uploaded. Anyway, there's about three quarters of it there at the moment if anybody wants to take a look at http://www.btinternet.com/~t.o.b.y/content/video/kraftwerk/Autobahn_medium.m pg Cheers Toby Cole - -- mobile e-mail : toby@locust.co.uk (max 800 chrs) e-mail : t.o.b.y@btinternet.com or toby@klingklang.co.uk tel : +44 (7968) 062 444 web : http://klingklang.dyndns.org or http://www.klingklang.co.uk icq : 26650852 # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info kraftwerk" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email kraftwerk@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # Other questions? Once again, it's not important, but curiosity is a feature of human > behaviour, why should we deny it ? FWIW, as far as I know Florian has a dark-haired girlfriend younger than him. I saw Herr Schneider in Zaragoza (1991) and Barcelona (1998) accompanied of this nice girl (she translated all of my questions into German to Florian). And I think he has been married in the past, because he has also a daughter. Nicolau Centola said the Florian's daughter came with him to Brazil in 1998 to see the concerts. As for Ralf Huetter, I'm not sure but think he lives with his parents.
