Well, Komputer and Afrika Bambaataa are two very obvious ones. They take a little effort to find sometimes, but are hardly rare. Kraftwelt is another obvious one. They do tons of KW tributes, but no covers and no samples. I would also mention Beat Dominator and Techmaster PEB. They make heavy use of KW samples and beats, but they come off kinda cheesy. There are many, many others that have claimed KW influence or otherwise had it attributed to them, but most of them add enough of their own originality that it's hard to spot the influence just by listening. - -- /* Soleil "Ra" Lapierre http://www.cuug.ab.ca/~lapierrs */ # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info kraftwerk" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email kraftwerk@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # Other questions? I've got a few of his tunes from the net and so far I like what I hear. As a matter of fact, I got carried away downloading music from another artists that have that sort of "Front 242 meets Depeche Mode meets PSB" sound, like VNV Nation, Covenant, Wolfsheim, etc, etc, etc. Some of it is pretty decent. For example, AB's "Kathy's song" and VNV's "Standing (Still)", I have them both memorized note by note, yes they are cheesy-club-anthems type of songs, so what? the DJ in me absolutely loves them! On the same token, I'd like to recommend a new band called: Electrostatic. Their sound is sharp, sensual and edgy. Go ahead and fire up your mp3 share programs! Start with "Magnetic Pulse".
