Its like a pre MIDI Flute like device that uses a moog synthesiser as its sound module, so Florian would trigger it as if it was a real flute. As for it being used on recordings? I dont think it has, but 'Spacelab' and 'Neonlights''s lead parts sound like electronic flute dynamics, but its just a Moog ( probably minimoog) set up to emulate an eeerie sounding flute like sound. I could be wrong of course but thats the way Id do it!! Allthough im sure all of us own it, we would all be much better off without it. uh-oh, here comes a "The Mix" rant: The thing with the mix is thatmost of the songs that they re-did kind of lose their point aftere about the first 2 or 3 minutes. I also think that some of the re-makes are a travesty to the original. though they do manage to "Jazz up" some of the old tracks (like TEE), they lose that analog romance that is accompanied by allmost all of their songs. The simple fact is that the mix is just a vain attempt at a publicity stunt. Perhaps the release of Electric Café was such a big dissapointment to the public that they had to bring back some old favorites. Now dont get me wrong, i love the keyboard stylings of Pocket Calculator, and the Robots, but A new album i think would have been a better choice. And now heres were i begin to stray from my point With the release of Expo 2000 the band has put themselves into a whole new light. Kraftwerk is no longer the innovator of the future that it once was, Expo 2000 still sounds futuristic, but that has become the norm, Expo 2000 sounds like any other song from the now, allthough, it is accompanied by that analog warmth, it still is by far not the bands biggest accomplishment. Of course, i like expo 2000, in part becuase its the only new thing that kling klang has cranked out in album form since 1986, but also becuase it brings you back to the days of Computer world, and Tour De france. Well, i'd say that that was quite the rant. but lets finish it off with one last statement. Kraftwerk has simply run out of fuel. It happens to all bands. Unless they've been hiding some new concept album a-kin to Radioactivity or TEE, then i think that kraftwerk has just about reached the end of its creative rope. Any comments? Angus Durrie. in a fight between me and batman, i would win. becuase batman is a bat-man _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info kraftwerk" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email kraftwerk@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # Other questions? Do you all actually make use of the vast list of Kraftwerk links I have up at the FAQ site? I am beginning to wonder once again. A quick count tells me I have around 149 (!) sites listed there. They are sorted into four (nominal) categories. The title of each site is shown, along with a brief description for each site. There is a search box. Each URL is manually checked every so often to check that it's still valid. That's quite a lot of work, so if search engines serve the community's needs better, that's fair enough - but I think the news should be broken to me... otherwise I am just being another list-compiling nerd and should be woken up to the fact before I try to develop the service further. You could always check your web logs and see how many of your visitors look at the page where the links are. I have to admit I don't use the links. When someone announces a new KW site, I check it out and bookmark it if it's good. If I lose the bookmark, as sometimes happens, I'm more apt to get busy with Google to relocate a site. After I wrote this, I realized that search engines should never be used as a reason not to maintain a links page like Kevin's. If everyone did that, then search engines would become localized access points for the Web, which makes it super-easy for someone like Microsoft to co-opt all the content and control whose sites get seen. Keep the links if you can spare the time to do so.
