Personally I'm getting rather bored with Kraftwerk! I appreciate their music and what they achieved and I still look out for whatever rare releases I can find, but I'm getting bored with it all! I've been on the mailing list since 1998 and all there is is us fans moaning whether there's any new material coming out. TDF rerelease was welcome, but they could also have released a maxi with the better mixes, like the original 12" or 2e Etappe for example. Expo was a nice surprise, but only 2 songs - 4 mixes in total, that's pathetic when it's been 10 years since anything 'new'! Then the 6 Expo remixes, not even by KW itself, well that CD's gathering dust in my CD cabinet. If I see an old single on the market I'll buy it, but the latest E2K or TDF 12" I refuse to buy as there is simply no point - nothing special! Also, the way Kraftwerk hold their loyal fans in disregard is just terrible. Most good groups at least write/release new material, at the most withing a couple of years, or they split up and there is that feeling of closure. Kraftwerk don't give us that closure feeling, they just keep us hanging on, waiting for new material that is obviously never going to come. They never communicate with their fans, we have no means of communicating with them at all, they barely perform live, just sitting away in their studio while we're just kept waiting... Isn't this just a joke? At this rate, John Lennon will release new songs before KW does... Why can't they just release SOMETHING special, like a new album or unreleased tracks, even the old Techno Pop, anything, or just have a press conference and call it quits? Even Neu! has released their old stuff officially nowadays, KW haven't even bothered with their old albums - fans want it, but they couldn't be arsed. I understand your feelings about being frustrated with no new material from KW. But KW doesn't owe us anything. If they decide to release something new, wonderful. If not, oh, well. There are plenty of artists who used to top the charts, then decided to produce or write and perform for other purposes such as incidental music for TV or films (like Devo's Mark Mothersby (sic) or The Police's Stuart Copeland). I Think KW is doing what they want right now...whatever that might be. I sort of think of it as a semi-retirement, at least from what we want them to be. After all R & F are in their 50s, aren't they? I'm not suggesting that they no longer can write music or be innovative. Maybe they are content with the indelible mark they made in music. Maybe it's my "Old age" speaking (I'm 33), but I'm not angry at them for their "silence." I'm also not angry at them for what some feel is a disregard for their fans. Like all of us, they have a right to privacy. Some people are more private than others. I don't think KW planned to make music history when they started tinkering with electronic sounds and industrial rhythms (all around) some 30 years ago. But they did and were thrust into the spotlight. Since then, they have given us so much...not just the recordings they made, but the other types of music that now exist thanks to them. My only hope is that they are happy with whatever they do, and know that there are many fans who love and appreciate what they have done. (Now I feel like hugging somebody!) Hey everyone !!!!

It's Josh here; I've been away for MONTHS due to a major screw-up with my computer, but somehow I managed to get back online somehow. I have no idea how long it'll last before the system starts crashing again, so if I disappear again for another extended length of time, then you'll know why. ;-)
Anyways, I've been wondering what's been going on lately in the world of our greatly beloved, highly underrated pop kings. Forgive me for not reading any of the latest posts or FAQ's; a lot of mail was deleted from my account.

All I know is that the US Expo Remix single from Astralwerks has FINALLY been released, and that's about it.
Anything else I should know ????

BTW, I think it would be cool if Astralwerks reissued the first three KW albums along with Tone Float, similar to the recent Neu! reissues. Now that they're all somehow affiliated with each other, I feel that this would make perfect sense.

Or if EMI reissued the whole catalog altogether, remastered with extended notes;etc. This would really help in the US with all of the scattered label releases out there (Warner Bros., Elektra, Capitol; etc.) .

Of course this will never happen.  ;-P
