Make test recordings at other concerts to get to perfect settings for your equipment. Get enough batteries and think hard = on where to put your recording or filming devices. The "strap it around your= balls" approach is definitely recommended by me, it worked perfect with m= y mini-disc recorder at Tribal Gathering. But bring more stuff along, you need to keep security men busy with a bag full of newspapers, magazines, wallets etc. The idea is, that they might have to check on everyone comin= g in and a bag is surely the first thing they will get their hands in. But once they checked the obvious bag they will let you through, since quiet = a lot of people are lined up waiting behind you by now. If you just come in= a T-shirt and your recording and filming devices strapped around your balls= (hopefully hidden behind some clothing of course!!) you can be SURE that they will tap your legs and this might get quiet unconfortable, to say th= e least! = BTW, anybody knows what happens if they find your devices? Where do they put it and how do you get it back after the concert? - -Recording. At TG I put the microphone through a hole in my baseball ha= t, so I was able to move freely and get no moving noises. Plus the sound should be pretty good since there should be not much distraction from nearby bodies. This might work with one of this small video recorders as well, if you wear a fairly big hat with a hole in it, you could record i= t pretty easily (well, you might get a headache...but that is a small price= to pay...isnt it?). Or if there is a second floor with a balcony you coul= d put your video on the balcony railing an just hit the record button -----= the easiest way. I and a friend of mine will bring both our MD-recorders....anybody trying= it with a video camera`??? By the way, a friend of mine told me that the guys from Orbital were see= n at TG filming the Kraftwerk Gig...anybody has seen this??? PS I will be staying with 4 friends of mine at the quiet luxurious Queen= s Hotel in Karlsruhe. They have a special weekend rate for just DEM 120. Normally you would pay double. It is supposed to be near the Bahnhof. It = is still available. You should be able to book it via www.travelocity.com = or e-mail me for Tel Nr if interested. The possible Hotel of Kraftwerk is t= he Renaissance, I think it is the best hotel in Town and it is not much more= expensive, I think it was ca. DEM 150...try your luck and have breakfast with Ralf and Florian! = Regards = Roland # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info kraftwerk" in the message. # Postings must go to kraftwerk@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 01 Oct 1997 23:43:30 -0500 From: Tiger Moses Subject: (kw) Olympic CD I successfully burned mine....So I know my system is ok (first audio cd with this hardware setup) Anyone wanting one send funds to Tiger Moses 3910 Monteith Spring, TX 77373 anyone who wants to cover their own postage and also mail blank CDR and envelope...I'll burn it for ya! $15 for US/Canada $20 us funds for all other countries Tiger Moses also tigster@geocities.com homepage www.blkbox.com/~tmoses/ # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info kraftwerk" in the message. # Postings must go to kraftwerk@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 2 Oct 1997 01:38:11 -0400 From: muziknut2@juno.com (Adam Schefflan) Subject: (kw) A moment of silence, please.... This week a terrible tragedy rocked the music world... The legendary songwriter/producer/composer Larry Heard announced his permanent retirement from music--this time for real. He sold all of his equipment and got a 9-to-5 as a computer programmer because of the need for "steady work," in his words. Larry Heard brought uncanny depth and emotional content into electronic dance music (among other things musical). Hopefully, one day, he'll return to the studio, and continue his work. A true genius. He will be sorely missed. For more info, check this week's "Billboard" magazine. I only have the green Electronic album which I didn't like much and the Mouse on Mars Iaora Tahiti. Which sounds pretty interesting. Both albums have former KW'ers but they are definitely guest type appearances. I am looking for the Yamo album and the newest Mouse on Mars, but it isn't too easy here in Ottawa, Canada... :-( Alex Laney # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info kraftwerk" in the message. # Postings must go to kraftwerk@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 5 Oct 1997 23:05:19 -0400 (EDT) From: EJRSemiGod@aol.com Subject: Re: (kw) Kraftwerk videos on MTV In a message dated 97-10-05 10:19:30 EDT, you write: << Has anybody seen the three Kraftwerk-videos on MTV a few days ago? Now I am able to contribute to this list. In a local Magazine called "Klappe auf" there has been an interview with Prof. Klotz, the founder and man in charge of the ZKM. He said that Kraftwerk will be playing some new songs and that Florian Schneider has been offered a professorship at the Hochschule for Gestaltung (something of a university of modern arts). Maybe Herr Professor Schneider is not as "shy" and afraid of people as he would have us believe. Do those Students know how LUCKY they are? Maybe we can sneak in and sign up for his classes. - -(Music theory? Electronic composition, perhaps? Yes, the bootlegs do indeed exist as many of us out here have already had them for some time now. You must've missed my Kraftwerk CD discography posting from last week. Here's a snippet from that post regarding KW's first few albums released on CD bootlegs: Tone Float Kraftwerk's pre-KW album from 1970, released under the band name Organisation. This CD is available as a bootleg only, and contains a bonus track titled "Vor Dem Blauen Bock" which is actually the KW piece also known as "Rueckstoss Gondolero", a piece recorded during the 6 month period in 1971 when the band consisted of only Florian, Michael Rother, & Klaus Dinger. Kraftwerk Kraftwerk's first album from 1970, released as a bootleg on CD by the Germanofon label. Aside from the Germanofon release, there was another bootleg CD of this album (DC 59 CD) that surfaced around 1994 which added a bonus track of "Ruckzuck" recorded live in Cologne, '75. Kraftwerk 2 Kraftwerk's 2nd album from 1972, released as a bootleg on CD by the Germanofon label. Aside from the Germanofon release, there was another bootleg CD of this album (DC 59 CD) that surfaced around 1994 which added a bonus track of "Kometenmelodie" recorded live in Cologne, '75. Ralf & Florian Kraftwerk's 3rd album from 1973, released as a bootleg on CD by Germanofon, containing the wonderful musicomix insert from the original LP. Aside from the Germanofon release, there was another bootleg CD of this album (DC 60 CD) that surfaced around 1994 which reportedly had poorer sound quality than the Germanofon one and did not contain the musicomix insert. As Mats mentioned, you can try www.camdenmarket.com, a place in the UK that is stocking some of these titles. There are several other on-line CD stores on the web that are also carrying them (places like www.hotstuff.se in Sweden), so look into it and I'm sure you'll find. - -- Scott nebulous@erols.com "Und wenn die Nacht anbricht ist diese Stadt aus Licht!" # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info kraftwerk" in the message. # Postings must go to kraftwerk@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ End of kraftwerk Digest V3 #152 ******************************* To subscribe to kraftwerk Digest, send the command: subscribe kraftwerk-digest in the body of a message to "majordomo@xmission.com".
