The original 1990 "Go" doesn't have anything to do with Twin Peaks. Argh. > that seminal track gets another outing here, alongside his lovely And why is "Go" always referred to as a 'seminal' track? I'll tell you why. It's because the official Mute/Elektra sales pitch -- er, biography -- said it. Reviewers often seem to just remix the official blurb, so to speak, and then add heaping helpings of their own ponderous superlatives. > i would love to know why a reviewer can't just say if he/she likes or > dislikes an album. can this guy (Mark Ramishaw) be any more > ambiguous!!!??? As I say, just load 'em down with excessive superlativage, add a dash of nonsense, and hope that most people go "What a brilliant review, he must know what he's talking about. Too bad I don't." I don't mean to lash out at reviewers, and I know how hard it can be to think of words to describe music. Just felt like pointing a couple things out about common "Go" misconceptions and got a little carried away. ;) BTW, about 3 weeks ago I mentioned that somebody was emphatically claiming that Depeche Mode will break up this year as soon as their "Best Of" album is released. This person claimed to have very reliable sources, but would not cite them, presumably to protect their identities. Well, it turned out to be a troll. Depeche Mode is not splitting up as far as anyone knows. Sorry for (unknowingly) spreading misinformation. BTW2, I just thought of something funny (Orb fans will get it, at least). Wouldn't it be nice if Moby were remixed by the Orb? If they collaborated, the release could be called "Morby"! =-) Daniel Cerman http://www.moby.org/ http://www.cerman.net/dan/ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Jan 1998 23:29:04 -0600 From: "five magics" Subject: (mobility) Moby Collections Well, I got 4 responses to my Moby Colleciton query, and I have affixed these entrants to my web page, as you see below. I have two questions that I want to share with you, in order to perhaps get some answers obviously! 1. Which records are the tracks on the EIW mix album originally from? Those specific versions ofcourse. Since it's mixed with "two turntables and a mixer" they are all available on vinyl, right? 2. How many remixes are there of "Go"? I've counted to 15 different versions (including an acoustic performance on MTV Europe) and I have 13 myself.
