Hmmm, 20 million bpm is 1 million beats every 3 seconds, which is over 333,333 beats per second. The sampling rate of a CD is 44.1kHz, so there about 7.5 beats per unit of digital information on CD. At that supposed speed, how can it be considered a 'beat'? My guess would be that it sounds like a drone, which might be considered 0 bpm ambient. :) > he's got a bucket full of crotch flavored popcorn. I bet! obMoby: Does anybody happen to have the Drug Fits The Face 12" that includes the track "Mad Love"? I would really like a copy (or an original ;) and would be willing to trade for it. I am going to figure out why others are not receiving them. Second, Moby is playing a concert called UNIVERSE 98 on Sunday 24th May, in Knebworth. Headlining will be Beck. Others are :Spiritualized,Bentley Rhythm Ace, Lo-fidelity All Stars. This sucks, my two fav's (Moby and Beck) are going to be at one concert and I can't go. Third and finally, I went to St. Charles this weekend and went to a mall called Cornerstone or something like that. I went to a record shop there and they had a moby poster from ILTS on the wall. A promo poster. I asked the guy if i could have it, he said let me check if i have more. He comes back and says, i don't more but i have these, and handed me a Animal rights poster (the one with moby's up close face) and a pin-up of ILTS. I was recently listening to my moby music (all 2 cds and 1 tape) and while I was listening to the complete go remixes cd from the rare cd, i thought for no good reason that i would count every time the "GO!!" sample was used. (please don't ask why I did this, I have no fucking clue.) Anyway, I counted 340 go's, including kind-of distorted or hard to find go's that have strategicly been placed between loud beats or "Yeah"s etc. I didn't include echoing go's, unless they were loud enough or something. The mix with the least go's is the voodoo child mix, which doesn't use the sample. The mix with the most is the Amphetamix (now why would Moby, the extreme anti-druggie we all know him to be, title a mix Amphetamix? had to ask...) it has 106 go's. It's like a go a second for a few seconds. the average go's per track is about 24, which is like the first mix on the cd (4got the name) plus a go or so. Note:this is only for the versions in the go cd that comes w/rare, which excerpts some mixes (like the accept-few-substitutes ORIGINAL VERSION perhaps?), and I'm not the best counter so it's probably wrong. But whatever. Ya know for some reason, I have a feeling someone has already did this... Anyway, is thousand really in the guiness book? maybe if they have a website it would say somewhere...it's not in my edition of the gbowr, which is like 94 or something. I guess i'll hafta go to the library and check it out... some sven vath news i found out in the dance column in the feb. 7th billboard: "Also plotting a return to the dance-floor is German technomeister Sve Vath(bold). He'll end a five-year break from recording with "Fusion," a stunning collection due at the end of March on Virgin in the U.K. and Europe. Vath accurately describes the trance-leaning project, on which he's collaborated with Ralf Hildeneutel(bold), as far less conceptual and intentionally accessible to mainstream punters. "We tried to go in a different direction", he says. "It's dedicated much more to the club scene, more beats and rhythms--[it's] showing the range of things that I'm into."" Other news in the billboard mag:the Chembros (my other faves) are ressurecting their record labal Freestyle Dust Records. Also, it says about the new single by "The Paul Simpson Connection." kind of interesting ther'es a dj who has the same name as me out there. I heard a new Madonna song yesterday. Not "Frozen," but the title track, "Ray of Light." Very housy, kind of like the new janet jackson only a lot more interesting. a slight alternatve-rock vibe, a few guitars. But the voice does not sound like Madonna. If the dj did not say it was her, i wouldn't have known. wow. The radio station i heard that on was this new station called Beat Radio. The format:music with a beat. All club music!!! phat. It's a whole network of stations. The one I get is from New York, at 1660 AM. Where the old Aahs World Radio used to be, before it shut down last month. I guess all the stations that used to be Aahs turned into this station. Unfortunately, they only are on 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. The rest is like a country station or something. Blaahh. Well, now I can hear Dj Supreme on the radio, among other things. Yay. Maybe they have a website, don't know. guess dat's it guys...check the new signature... == "What was that?" "Just a curse, honey. I have the Reverence CD by Faithless and was only halfway impressed by it... "Salva Mea" and "Imsonia" are probably the best songs on that CD... going a step further, probably the only songs worth listening to... I was pretty disappointed that Faithless is a product of Rollo and Sister Bliss... however, the Epic Mix of "Salva Mea" is outstanding... gotta like how the recent trend in techno/dance music is using particular Faithless sound now when they've been using it since 1996... and the Nightmares on Wax mix of Olive's "You're Not Alone" is probably the best I've heard... nice flowing bassline... but I digress...
