I think there are a lot of people who like this music, people who are in a position to 'sneak' it out to the masses, knowing that perhaps it is the only way some people will ever hear it. For example, a radio station in LA, KLOS, plays a lot fo classic rock, but for bumper music before and after commercials, you will hear a lot of techno, rap, etc. Mostly instrumental, but it's there none the less. Beastie boys, Moby, Busta Rhymes ?, etc. My feeling is that whoever is responsible for choosing this 'bumper' material (a peon who has little say in anything esle that goes on), is into that music, and since the station won't normally play these songs, he or she takes the opportunity to play them whenever they can, even if it is only for a few seconds.
