So we hear from DEF that When My Honey Come Home will be around in June/July, which is a single from the forthcoming album. Now, Moby left Elektra and is without a record deal. Ihsoccer tells us Moby told him at Syracuse that hopefully we'll see the album in February. Honey won't come out 8 months previous to the album, right? (wouldn't bother me, but it doesn't seem likely)So what's the deal? Anyone with info? Speculation? My guess is that we won't see Honey until Moby inks a deal. - -Steve Giles - ------------ To unsubscribe from this list, send mail to majordomo@lists.xmission.com with the line "unsubscribe mobility" in the body. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Apr 1998 17:35:33 -0500 From: "Brad Caviness" Subject: Re: (mobility) AM I conFused? - -----Original Message----- From: Steve Giles > Now, Moby left Elektra and is without a record deal. Hello people, I'm a relatively new Moby fan - my first taste was 'Everything is wrong' and I was pretty impressed. But the ultimate was 'Animal Rights' for me(I also like 'I like to score'by the way). Personally, (and I hope I don't get lynched for saying this!?)I think Moby should stick to hardcore/techno punk, though I do like some of the techno/'dance' stuff. I suppose I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to dance/techno/ambient, but I like it as well as most musical styles. My favourite bands/singers, etc. besides Moby are The Jesus and Mary Chain, P.J. Harvey, Cocteau Twins, The Levellers, New Model Army, Spiritualised, The Cure, Orthodox church music/choir, John Tavener and various classical, some Massive Attack, Beastie Boys, The Damned, The Dead Kennedy's - you get the picture!? Because I'm pretty stressed with work these days I haven't been keeping up to date with the latest in the world of music. I'm planning to go with a few mates to the Glastonbury festival (the U.K.) and was wondering if anybody knows if Moby's playing there? Scott - I understand you're heading for Phoenix. However, if you haven't already got the tickets and Moby is playing Glastonbury (and you haven't been to Glastonbury before) I'd advise you go to Glasto (hopefully it won't be flood conditions this year!?). Phoenix is a good festival but Glasto is better - there again that's my opinion. HERE'S SOME THOUGHTS ABOUT MOBY: i like moby's animal right alot too...and will be sad if he releases a whole cd of dance music. i'm not sure how convincing he can be to me doing dance music anymore. because he's been out of the scene for so long, i think he may have lost his grip on it. dance music is one of those technological things where what makes it successful is whatever "new trick" is in vogue at the time. i'm not sure if moby is up on wha's in vogue in dance music these days. he might cum off trying to sound too much like he's been there the whole time. or might sound like a wannabe. i'm very excited to hear his new stuff though. extrememly curious. i hope i'm wrong. from, ryu ################################ "POWER MADE FLESH" The new CD from Ryu now available on Shoryuken! What do you mean by "out of the scene for so long"? He's still been making dance music, despite AR and EOE, etc. Hasn't he been doing a lot of remixes? How do we know that he's hasn't been working on dance music privately since EIW? I think that would still be the same as if he had been releasing albums. It just doesn't seem to me that Moby's been too far from it. He also still plays a lot of dance music in concerts from what I hear. Anyway, EIW wasn't really that long ago was it? Bless Me!!) anyway, i also got prod's charly/EITP single w/moby's mix of the latter tune. it's kind of nice, but like the original version, it's kind of bland (IMHO). it's good though. IT's kinda weird, it doesn't really sound like moby, it sounds way too prodigy (well gee i wonder why...) but overall its pretty good. i'll probably like it more as i listen to it more. i like the fairground mix a lot though, its definitely wayy better than the album version (which as i sed i was never a big fan of anyway) but the second half of the cd is just blazin, worth the price of it alone. also when i was at tha store, i saw blur's new 2cd import "Bustin and dronin" which has 1 disc of remixes and 1 live ep. it's kool, it's a double import from japan but its like $20. well when i have a lil mo $$$$ ill go get that. (what i'm really looking for is blur's leisure album...can ANYONE find a copy!?!?!?!? PLEEZ!!?!?!?) another thing, does anyone get the prevue channel? (on comcast cable here, it's channel 31) its this channel that has a split screen...on the top half is like commercials and interviews and clips from movies n news n stuff, and the bottom half is a scrolling of what's on tha boob tube. well, i've been listening to the background music lately, and it's getting more and more moby-ish. It's like, they make cheep rave songs and cover them in distorted guitars, and sometimes add diva howlings. like one song ends, i swear, with the same "OH YEAHHHHHH..........." that moby uses in "Thousand". I also noticed that one song tries to copy the break from Chembro's "Song To The Siren" well if u get this channel listen for like 5 minutes and youll c what i'm talking about. maybe you can download the music at the channrel's website, ok, bye. == "look into my eyes....i don't need therapy..."-good will hunting "it was a nasty job, a dirty job...and it'll cost us heavily in man and equipment." >>>>>>>>>>PAUL<<<<<<<<<< _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? EIW and AR just cause theyre so damn eclectic.. i love the instrumentals, and i find that its the guitar- driven tunes that annoy my neighbors i enjoy the most.. songs like you and come on baby are just so fucking honest.. and voodoo child is so peaceful to fall asleep to.. i'd love another 1/2 rock, 1/2 instrumental contribution from the man more than anything. ,sarah - ------------ To unsubscribe from this list, send mail to majordomo@lists.xmission.com with the line "unsubscribe mobility" in the body. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Apr 1998 19:27:15 +0200 From: Jonathan Ruano Subject: Moby and hardcore/techno or techno/dance (was Re: (mobility) Hello.)
