Hi, New to the list, so I thought I should probably introduce myself. My name is Brian and I'm a confessed music-a-holic I've been into Moby for a couple of years now, and have amassed a few singles, but nothing major. Here's my collection Everything is Wrong (US Release) EIW DJ mix Album Rare I Like to Score Dog Heaven Single End of Everything Everytime You Touch Me Moby All that I Need is to be Loved Feeling so Real MixMag Moby/Sean Vath Animal Rights (US) James Bond (Aus) then on Vinyl Bring Back my Happiness and That's when I reach for My Revolver. So I don't have a lot, but I've got the start of a collection. I listen to quite a bit of dance music, but I do a lot of DJing at a local community radio station, and I write for a upper-midwestern music mag called "Raw Tuna" so my music tastes are pretty eclectic. Brian the Minnesotan The extent to which we think such trivialities as "WWJD" or Testamints are effective witnesses to an unbelieving world says quite a bit about the depth of our faith, and I say that to our collective shame. ~Matt Laswell - -------------------------behmer@pioneerplanet.infi.net-------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Jul 1998 22:03:13 -0500 From: "Brad Caviness" Subject: RE: (mobility) Introductions... > -----Original Message----- > From: Brian Behm > New to the list, so I thought I should probably introduce myself. > Ah you need no introduction to me. I was sitting at home 2:30 on Sat. night, bored, but not wanting to go to bed yet. So I flip on the TV and watch a PBS show about airports. (For the non-Americans who may not know, PBS is a U.S. television station). If you've ever watched PBS you know that in between shows they have short clips about future shows or station identification. One of those identification clips showed the PBS logo, a photograph of a man hiking or something, and a quote by Robert Louis Stevenson. As it was on the screen, there was some background music playing and I noticed that it sounded very familiar. It was about 5 seconds or so of "First Cool Hive." It was a pretty interesting surprise. So I figure I better welcome my own brother to the list..Are we the first brother combo on the list? Anyways..It was really bizzare..Went over to visit mom's one day..Was in lil bro's room playing cd's for my older bro..He wanted a mixtape of electronic artists for his little road trip...So I played some stuff to see if he'd like it(Underworld's "Dubnobass..." and MBM's "Subliminal Sandwich")..So while we're sitting there..Evan's stack of cd's is right there..and I see BBMH right there..I think to myself, "Did I lend him this cd?(seeing how I lend him cd's from time to time..right now he has JBT)" Turns out he's gotten into Moby..very cool :). > Other Artists: NIN, Prodigy, Beastie Boys, Underworld, Aphex Twin, Meat > Beat Manifesto, etc It's nice to have family/friends start you off on the right track isn't it? I've tried to get my whole family into my music, but I haven't had any success. My little brother likes g-raps, my younger siter likes my music but she is firmly 3 yrs behind me, so... maybe in another year she'll catch on. She also likes stuff w/ a gothic slant to it. My older sister listens to country& lite stations. My parents... are daft. (no punk) I got some Moby vinyl thru the mail the other day. The Up River mix of Hymn reminds me a lot of his Up River mix of Fractal Zoom, I love how Moby has multiple mix personality disorder. (upriver, electro, barracuda, voodoochild, lopez, etc. etc.) The Dirty Hypo, was good as well, but my favorites are still the ones from the This Is My Dream CD. esp. TIMD & Euro Edit. I got Next Is The E, which the vinyl version lacks the Victory mix, I think it was. Also got Move, promo I beleive. It came in a black sleeve w/ "Promotional Copy Not For Sale" on it in gold stamp, but it may be a dif sleeve, as these I got 2nd hand. Now I need some advice here. Is it worth it for me to pay 13$ each for UHF, Barracuda, Mobility, & Brainstorm? Am I getting ripped off? Am I getting a steal? Well, that's what I agreed on but I'd like to know anyway. I'm also getting Self-Titled on vinyl (is this 2x12"?) and another copy of Next, and a Go 12". $100 for all inc. shipping. Good or Bad? It'll be fun to play both Next records at the same time on "Thousand" and fuck it all up. - -Steve Giles " I am musically diverse, I listen to both country & western." ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Jul 1998 09:45:04 -0700 From: plovious@juno.com (Michaela S Gerstner) Subject: (mobility) WELCOME!!!
