AJ hi. morcheeba plays here next thursday (minneapolis) and i think it is definitely worth checking out. if you like massive attack-type stuff (they play sunday!) kind of a chill groove with great vocals. they had a song on the radio a while back called trigger hippy, you've probably heard it. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Sep 1998 15:10:29 -0600 From: "krwilson" Subject: (mobility) flesh Just wondering, how many of you people have given up eating flesh because of Moby? MO ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Sep 1998 16:35:04 -0400 From: Steve Giles Subject: (mobility) veggiennnthanx Unless someone will dub it for ya, Thanks is done for. I tried to get one myself last April. No go. A 2nd tribute sounds enticing, but we'd need someone with the time, equipment, & dedication to do it. From what I can tell the last effort turned out to be a bigger project than expected and Andy has to put up with a lot of crap by the time he got done. From the feedback it sounds like it was worth it 100%. I recognize the merit displayed within the EIW liner notes, but I lack the motivation & willpower to become a vegetarian. Philisophically I think it's a great idea. I know one never knows until he tries, but I can't even kick cigarettes. (most of the time I don't even want to, health or no health) I lack the energy even to be disgusted w/ my own apathy, but at least I recognize my faults, which I guess is the first step in attacking them. My life is busy and I don't have room to make sweeping changes now. To completely alter my diet and quit smoking would test every iota of mental strength I have, something I'm not ready to try yet. I know I would be an agitated, unsympathetic, rude, short-fused individual for however long it would take to adjust, and I don't want to put myself and my friends & family through that. Maybe later. Please keep critical comments on this where they belong, private if it's solely about me, public if it's Moby-related. Oh yeah, I'd have to move out and make all new friends if I did that too. The temptation of being surrounded by that which I'm trying to escape would be too much. - -Steve ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Sep 1998 16:45:37 -0400 From: Steve Giles Subject: (mobility) an afterthought Regarding my previous post, I think we can have a wonderful discussion as long as we stay on topic. If anyone chooses to follow up on this, let's keep it on-topic and related to Moby & his beleifs. If we steer off and start running off on crazy philosophy tangents that would turn this list into a forum for something other than it was intended, and that has angered many when it happened in the past. If that happened I'd feel very bad about posting my thoughts on Moby's beleif in detail. I apologize in advance if anybody feels this was out of order. - -Steve The words for the day are content & on-topic. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Sep 1998 17:04:52 EDT From: JadenX@aol.com Subject: (mobility) Wholelotta Honey Hello list! I just looked at thier catalog cause I haven't been there in a while and all they had was AR. I guess they only had one of each Honey release. I'm gonna have to get the UK vinyl too since the promo of it I got was either a bad pressing or received invisible damage. The Sweet Honey mix skips in 3 places. :( >>Fast for the UK. About half of what I order is from private dealers, not stores, and I've found that strong communication is very important wherever you order from. I figured it was the record player's fault, or that I got some messed up records. > Has anyone heard the other two Jr. Vasquez mixes of Into The Blue, the two > not on the CD? Oh yeah, hi. JUst joined the list but in a way I have been with the list since its inception. Because I didn't have my own computer I usually looked in on the list from friends computers and on the ones at the college I go to. Finally got my own and so here I am. Lets see I little about me. My name is Keith Clancy, I live in Hicksville, Ny which is on Long Island (about 30 minutes from NYC). I am a junior in college (though am takeing a semester off before transfering to SUNY New Paltz). Started to listen to Moby back in '92 when Go just came out as a single and heard it a rave in NYC at that time but not until a a year later when the Move ep came out which had great reviews did I fully get into Moby and all his incarnations. I am a huge fan of music ( I buy at least one cd or vinyl a week). Besides Moby am a huge fan of Tori Amos, Depeche Mode, and the Cure. Also listen to The Orb, F.S.O.L., Aphex Twin(all of his projects), Dead Can Dance, Underworld, New Order, Meat Beat Manifesto. Brian Eno, Orbital,Chemical Brothers, Portishead, Dj Shadow, Jeff Mills, Detriot techno(Kevin Saunderson,Juan Atkins, etc), MoWax label, Skint label, No U Turn label, Autechre, Sabres of Paradise, and anything on Novamute just to name a few. Before I list what I actual own I just wanted to put a idea foward for everyone to think about. I would love to trade tapes with people on the list. But not only the usual bootleg trading(though if you have I would love to trade a tape of something for it) but that of rare tracks, remixes, etc. If you didn't have anything rare of Moby to make a copy of and trade with I know I would take anything dealing the artists I listed above or if you wanted I think it is generally done in other trading groups each tape I give to you, you would give me 2 blank tapes.
