I basically recommended the US single, which is as common as political scandals. Good CDs you got there, I like those live versions on the Revolver promo. It's a shame they didn't include the whole "Live At The Splash Club" on there. I just got my Come On Baby 2CD today, finally. I have 5 of the 7 total Splash Club songs now. I missed the actual CD in an auction by about two weeks, and I lost an auction very recently for BBMH live and Revolver live because it ended on a Saturday, and I have no weekend access. I got outbid at the very end. :( My local Tower is being foolish again. They don't have the OMD remixes, and they have they have Ragtime! soundtrack on the standup display for soundtracks, but not Permanent Midnight. I can understand Titanic and Rush Hour, and 54, but they should be wise to this. It's such an obvious seller, especially nowadays. The new ChemBros mix CD is at #9. Oh well, at least they have Sandman: Book Of Dreams on sale in hardcover for $10.99. He choosed other artists videos to be shown and talked about them before his own "Honey" being shown at the end. He said they have just finished shooting it in London. It was quite cool, several Mobys climbing out of a little wooden box dressed up in all-grey suits and walking around in a city, among other things looking at a girl through the keyhole of a bathtub door and jumping out from a window of a high building without getting hurt. Then they climbed back in the box, and it exploded. I managed to get it on video tape. I didn't catch the whole show, but picked up this statement by Moby before the last video was shown, the Spice Girls "Spice Up Your Life": "I love hip hop, I love jazz, I like classical, I like heavy metal, I like dance music but I really love pop music. And you can't get any poppier than the Spice Girls. I've seen the movie, the Spice Girls movie, I've bought the records, I've bought the home videos. I'm a true hardcore Spice Girls fan." Has Moby gone nuts? Where has the anti-commercial statements from his appearance on "Party Zone" on MTV in 1995 gone? Where has the anti-commercial statements from his > appearance on "Party Zone" on MTV in 1995 gone? One can like the spice girls on a purely non-commercial level. Even though they are just images and others play and compose their music for them, we can still respect the people behind the scenes for their musical talent(if that's what one considers it in this case). I for instance like J-pop music and 80s synth pop music. As long as I don't get rapped up in the commercial aspects and just enjoy these genres for what they are, what is wrong with that? I suppose you could call it my evil little addiction. Moby too, then has a similar addiction -- the spice girls. Even though I would never buy an album of theirs, I can still understand other people's appreciation of their music, group, image, etc. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Oct 1998 12:56:16 -0400 From: Steve Giles Subject: (mobility) Why Can't It Move It On Over the Higher Hole? It sounds to me like there is an Orb sample from Pomme Fritz in the song "Sim 1" on the "Higher / Desperate" single. Any other opinions on this? It's this bubbling air-like oscillating sound. Does Moby use the sample "I can't... stop" somewhere besides on the Lopez single "Why Can't It Stop?" I know I've heard it before but I know nobody else w/ this single, and on the single it's "I can't stop" whereas I remember hearing it with the delay between "can't" and "stop". I keep hearing both Moby's "Love Hole" and George Thoroughgood & The Destroyers' "Move It On Over" in my head at the same time, all day. Unfortunately I don't know the first thing about how to make copies of a video. I have a, well, quite old mono VHS with a SCART cable but then what? And what's SASE? Be aware, the video's not that good quality either. It would probably be easier for you to track it down on a local TV channel... >One can like the spice girls on a purely non-commercial level.
