Didn't seem like that to me. But Moby is well known for his sexual appetite and willingness to be open about it. I mean how many times have we heard about his enthusiasm for anal sex? How many pictures have been taken w/him and some other scantily clad woman? And what about his involvement in a film who's topic deals with the porn industry? The sexual being the Moby IS... adds up in many different ways and opinions. =) Damian. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Dec 1998 16:31:34 EST From: MOBYchild@aol.com Subject: Re: (mobility) Moby n' Porn Stars actually, in a very old Rolling Stone magazine, there was a mention of moby stating in an interview that he had dated porn stars/prostitutes. i could be mistaken on the particulars of the article, but it was somthing to that effect. william. Also, just becuase we are discussing a controversial topic doesn't mean we're placing or implying judgement in relation to it. I can discuss sex without appointing myself Moby's judge. I can describe myself without the stereotype police showing up and looking for transgressions. (well, I'd like to anyways) If I recall correctly, Moby is on record as having dated a stripper. He is fascinated with pornography and the surrounding culture. I don't beleive he's dated a porn star, however. He's appeared in Playboy or Playgirl wearing a sock. Studly guy, eh? As long as he stays away from soap operas I'll have no problem with Moby having poor taste. :) If Thanks 2 turns out anything like this list is lately, it'll be funeral music. Speaking of space aliens, I got the Permanent Midnight soundtrack today. Looks very tasty! This platter is marinated in Spring Heel Jack, braised in Crystal Method, and pureed with BT. Optional ingredients include Spiritualized and Prodigy. (use sparingly) Mandatory coating of "Honey" and this delicacy will amaze your guests! Enjoy. Ok, I know you're being bombarded with holiday bullshit already. All the same, let's hear your wild 'n' zany Moby Christmas carol ideas. Maybe go caroling (sp?) door to door with "God Moving.." in the background? That would be nice. Tradition is boring, anyways. (ducks bullets) Perhaps "All That I Want Is To Be Santa"? Hi Plovious! That would be The Blue Light Of The Underwater Sun. It's also on the Everytime You Touch Me single. Ul He Fu, which is on Mayday:Judgement Day, I think, is a hyper version sans dolphins & intro. Both very cool songs. Blue Light starts out with a hypnotic monologue spoken by Moby, and it is the only Moby song I can think of offhand with political commentary inside the song. Moby tells a tale of utopian life as a dolphin and ends it abruptly with the dolphins getting caught in the 'nets of commercial fishermen'. It then flies into the song, which is a antagonized UHF style pulse pounder w/ dolphin squaks used as musical instruments, sort of. It's on the US release and one of the UK ones. It's the most common single for me to see on shelves near me. (the US one) Well, the Permanent Midnight soundtrack has a slightly different mix of Honey than the single version. It has extra vocal layerings in some parts (the "Homegrown...homegrown" you hear in RJ's mix." It also has these extra drum drops in certain spots. Most of the lyrics are lines that span two measures, and in one part of this mix only the first half (first measure) of a line is repeated over each measure instead of flowing forwards like the single mix. The funk guitar plays all the way until the end, and there are two chords (I think) played after the end of the song. (where the single mix ended, that is) Whew. The rest of the soundtrack varies in quality. The Art Alexis song is atrocious. So is this song called "Cigarette'. That one is about wanting to be a girl's cigarette, becuase he's be on her lips & in her pocket, etc., etc. Horrid stuff, really. The BT is cool, the Crystal Method is simple structurally, but cooool sonically, like always, and the Permanent Theme is a nice techno piece. Good CD, overall, despite the few dubious selections.
