I can't believe that i just heard about Mobility until recently. I will go ahead and be un-original template that Mobility sent me for introducing myself. Name: My name is Kyle Yeates Age: I'm still in my teens What is in my Moby collection: I own "Animal Rights", "I Like to Score", "Moby", "Early Underground", "Rare: B-sides", "Move" single, "Everything is Wrong", and the "The End of Everything" done under Voodoo Child. I would buy more if I wasn't in such a tight economic situation. Where I heard of Moby first, and how big of a fan I am: One of my friends, and i actually had a silk screen made of the Moby logo on the cd "Animal Rights". Other stuff I like: Electronic is my favorite genre of music, I am really into Moby more than any other artist in particular. my tastes vary quite a bit. I really like Squarepusher. Aphex Twin from what little i have heard of him. My other point of interest is in U.K. drum n' bass/jungle. i.e. Krust, Roni Size, Dillinja, Photek, ect. Crobar is a 21+ dance club, and its not all that big. While some people will argue this, my experience has been that Crobar is a fairly selective/strict club. If your friend is female and has a fake, chances are good she'll get in. If it is a he and he has a fake, the chances are decreased, and if its anyone that doesn't have a fake, IMHO, chances are nill. But that's me - some other have claimed to have gotten in w/o ID. My experience has been, however, that on crowded evenings Crobar can be QUITE selective (even if you are legit/over 21) - -G ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 07 Apr 1999 02:03:20 -0700 From: mazbass Subject: (mobility) a few moby-related items up for sale hi, i have a few moby related items for sale... moby everything is wrong UK cd with UNDERWATER UK 2 cds 25/offers mint moby honey promo 12" remixes by Westbam and Moby UK 12" promo 15 mint i also have quite a few other dance/synth 12"s and cds for sale at the address below. let me know if you're interested in anything--thanks! - ------->OUT OF PRINT AND RARE RECORDS/CDs FOR TRADE/SALE<------- http://icl-server.ucsd.edu/~mazbass/odysseymusic.html PET SHOP BOYS, 808 STATE, UNDERWORLD, ORB, LEFTFIELD, WILLIAM ORBIT, MADONNA, ERASURE, BT, DEPECHE MODE, MASSIVE ATTACK, ORBITAL, BELOVED, etc. etc. Email with any questions... mazbass@icl-server.ucsd.edu ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Apr 1999 12:36:01 +0100 (British Summer Time) From: Tim Beecher Subject: Re: (mobility) run on Not sure if I'm being a pleb here and forwarding this to people who already got this, but I just received all this info below from DEF, if anybody finds it useful? Hey everyone-- Well, I know that Michaelangelo (sp?) got himself a copy of the new album, and I know that I for one was incredibly jealous. But then yesterday I ran into my friend, the music editor for an area paper. And what should he have with him but a copy of Play. I've listened to it a couple of times...some very different stuff on there. I'll post more detail sometime soon. Also, my friend mentioned that I might be able to interview Moby if I'm interested...which of course I am. Again, I'll let y'all know if it happens, so I can get some questions from you guys to ask him. Folks, I'm sorry...it sounds like I'm gloating in this post. I mostly like his stuff that has a lot of melody. For instance the "Feeling so Real Remixes" and the "Into the Blue Remixes." What I really like is good quality jungle. Aphex Twin has some awesome examples of what jungle should be like. I also like Digital Hardcore, like Atari Teenage Riot and Bomb 20. I don't know if you have heard of them. My last suggestion is if you like really fast techno, check into Alec Empire. He has some of the fastest crap I have ever heard, the thing is its mostly jungle though. Name: Jayson Magnus Age: 27 MOBY Collection: It's difficult to list them all. I have all his albums and almost all of his cd singles in the USA (about 20 CDs total?). The rare stuff I have would be the HYM CD Single, the 2CD Import of Animal Rights, and recently the Remix Honey Single and the Honey Single with 2 new songs (forgot the names but they're good). I first heard of MOBY at raves during college (89 - 93) and more specifically from the COOL WORLD soundtrack (great soundtrack, crappy movie) which came out in 91 or 92(?). I would say I am a great fan of MOBY, would see him anytime he came to town (Boston) and I appreciate his creativity. Other artists I enjoy: I recently bought a CD from VAST (Visual Audio Sensory Theatre) which I would HIGHLY recommend. This kid who writes and does most of the music is very ingenious. He samples gregorian chants and creates some really good music. MY BIG QUESTION: Has anyone heard of LOPEZ? It is Moby. I have bought two CD singles that I found from LOPEZ (aka MOBY) but always wondered why he did them under the name switch. Does anyone have any information on this? ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 07 Apr 1999 13:40:11 -0400 From: dredmond@bsumail.idbsu.edu (Daniel Redmond) Subject: Re: (mobility) Intro & Question > > Hello, > > I was told to introduce myself and I have a question at the bottom. > > Name: Jayson Magnus Welcome aboard our merry ship of mystery, or at least moby... > > Age: 27 > > MOBY Collection: It's difficult to list them all. Lopez, like Voodoo Child, was a side project. Moby occasionally does this in order to explore other musical inclinations (Voodoo Child is a lot of very ambient music in my opinion, while Lopez is harder techno) Aside from the two singles, I haven't been able to find anything else (amazing, no? I can find the Lopez singles, which have been out of print for a while and were sort-of obscure to begin with, yet can't find a copy of the Hymn single...) just killing time before going to work (promotions to management are always nice, huh?) daniel who gets to be in charge of an IMAX theater on 30 Apr.
