These things were called 'concept-albums' it really was something when I grew up, yo had like Atom Heart Mother )Pee Floyd( and berlin by lou Reed (I always called him Old Uncle Lou, i dont know wh? he was born retired maybe?)(i could get totally depressed from 5 seconds of 'Berlin' now: "This is the room, where she cut her wrists.." Ow gawd...) , these where really so-called: 'concept-albums', and now i'd like to ask this...yo fucking young folks! Now with the coming of the cd, with maximum 74 minutes of M. I dont see any Concept-Albums anymore... I just see everybody Pumpin up 74 minutes because they create that the past two months, or years or what have you, They just think about the next SIXTEEN (16 times 4'3333 So NOT MOBY! ANIMAL RIGHTS is really a concept album... ONLY 54 minutes or so 60 maybe... it's NOT that Totall 74 because IT IS a cd! (because it's an ALBUM) (only thing: it has NOthing to do with the Booklet, so NOT totall-cocept) Djee. see my point now? There's so many cd's out there, with just filled up to 79 minutes even (Niek!) that's redundant music... because it's filling up to Understand this, yo'd have to be a liberal capitalist I presume But Moby doenst doe this, he just stops when the band is FULL Well PLAY, 53 minutes, I thought it was 93? - -- new NIEK-Album 79 minutes! EMUSONGS II i have to play that one more time before i know it Kees, the bear-ear.. nb: all moby's albums are concept! so better watch that guy! he's gonna be freaking great! in history of MUSIC i mean! While we're on the subject of wal-mart.... I would like to take a moment to bitch. I work at this multi-national slave driver and i absolutely deplore their censorship policies. Wal-Mart will not sell what it deams a "profane" cd. However, two aisles over sits the movie "Friday" You see, Wal-Mart's censorship only applies to music. NO AMOUNT OF VIOLENCE AND CURSING can get a movie pulled from the shelves. (although our store once had to pull "the best little whore house in texas" because some old lady complained about it) This infuriates me. Not only do they censor the albums but they try to hide it from the customers. The only mention of this censorship is in the form of a tiny little "edited" mark in the corner of the price tag. I've seen a few cd's that don't even carry that bit of warning. You would not believe how many discs are returned each day because people never noticed that it was edited. Another thing i hate is how wal-mart uses its censorship policies to get good press in the "heartland" middle america. They carried the prodigy album for months until a few groups complained about "smack my bitch up" ONLY THEN did wal-mart pull the album and only did so to get press about how they were a family oriented store that would not peddle "smut" Sorry this is off topic but i would like to mention that i bought Animal Rights at wal-mart (long before i worked there) and i think its really sad that the values of america are set by a corporation like wal-mart. http://www.walmartsucks.com - -----rob Proxia@aol.com wrote: > often these 2 chains dont ban stuff they just say we will only carry it if > you edit it or release an alternate clean version i dont believe moby would > really give a damn ... > > kinda like fatboyslim he has a kiddy clean version its called where in heavin > is now called illin in heaven i'm not sure but i heard that the lyrics are > even changed to "fatboy slim is illin in heaven" quite lame eh ? > > - ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 02 Jul 1999 03:05:50 -0500 From: Anthony Gall Subject: Re[??]: (mobility) everything is wrong mixed cd sorry about the lateness of this, i'm a couple weeks backlogged in letters from moblility...i ordered the double album a little over a month ago from ab-cd.com for about $21 (i hadn't been able to find it in any record stores). i kept emailing them asking about it, they said it was out of print and there wasn't any way they could get it. i was just about to ask for my money back, then yesterday i get this email saying they shipped it to me! god only knows from who/where, but i'm not asking any questions! :) - -Anthony ps - i never introduced myself, did i? well maybe next time! - ----- Original Message ----- From: Steve Giles To: Sent: Friday, June 18, 1999 12:03 PM Subject: RE: Re[2]: (mobility) everything is wrong mixed cd > A friend ordered me a copy of EIW Mixed Remixed for Christmas, last > December. And now you Americans don't have to buy expensive imports for it! >8. sunspot (6:46) I'm very curious about this song (and the song Arp) Track 7 & 8 really give a _sunny_ ending to this disc... I got the ltd. red colored Metallica 10" of 'Until It Sleeps' with Moby mix and the LFO CD 'Love Is The Message' with Moby mix today and I've got to say I'm a bit disappointed... With LFO's Tan ta ra Moby couldn't have done a better remix, but I really don't like the original. The mix is WAY better than the original, but in itself it still is nothing special... The Moby remix of 'Until it sleeps' I don't like. How could Moby turn a really nice song like this into such a bunch of noise! He also did the same thing with Aerosmith's 'Falling in love (is hard on the knees)' I only have the 'Flawed mix' of this song and I don't like this noise either... It seems like Moby has 2 ways of remixing rock songs: 1) He turns them into a bunch of noise with a breakbeat (Until it sleeps, Falling in love...) 2) He turns them into beautiful relaxing slow tracks: (Beetlebum (Blur), 1979 (Smashing Pumpkins)) There's probably also a 3rd way: house mixes, but I don't have any yet... I'm looking forward to getting the Moby mixes of 'Dead man walking' by David Bowie, I hope they won't disap- point me! Oh, and welcome to all new members! So what if I can't hear a guy go"Fucking piece of shit." I personally don't care, and I don't think its necessary to express yourself by using vulgar language. Mozart didn't, Moby doesn't, and almost all great artists don't. I've been enlightened more by great artists who don't curse 1000 times more than those who can't seem to stop cussing. The only people that really concentrate on it are crappy rappers who aren't that great anyway. Besides, If you really wanted cursing to have an effect on your listeners, use it sparingly. Because if you use it a lot it dulls the effect. Oh well, I know I'm probably gonna get flamed for this, but I just wanted to get my point across.
