I went out and bought "Moby" and loved it. I then got "Ambient" and started collecting his stuff. He usually has other Instinct Moby in stock, too. Be sure to check for Moby, Voodoo Child, Barracuda, Brainstorm, and UHF under each of their appropriate headings and you'll usually find 3 or 4 gems. Reference the discography and you can usually fiund Moby's remixes of others, too. I got my R & S 'Voodoo Child' record form him, as well as 'Voodoo Ray' from A Guy Called Gerald, and a Jam & Spoon 'Stella' 12" which doesn't have the Moby remixes, but the b-sides instead. I can't remember the time I saw a show so electrofying there. For those who think dance music is repetitive aand boring, there was Moby, who survived Woodstock nicely, to set everyone straight. Using a live drummer, percussionist and bassist and playing guitar himself (along with backing vocal tapes), he made the music come alive -- be it his early frenzy, like "Go", or later, more ambient and experimental tracks, like "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad" (which he didnt play at the show... but Fran played this song last night, so i guess he really likes that song) from his new album "Play"-- in ways one couldn't imagine hearing it in a dance club or on the radio. And Moby, a slight gentle man by nature, looked absolutely possessed. This Sunday night show was what a Saturday night should be in this town and never is anymore. And why he is'nt a superstar, or closer to one, is beyond me. AMEN TO THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hen it links the article about his two percussionists and Paul Simon's 4our percussionists.... seriously WHY IS MOBY NOT FAMOUS!?!?!?!?? this is obscene!!!!! its because of the record companies that never gave techno the chance it deserved. anyway ddont want to get into that, i've been listening to "MY WEAKNESS" a lot lately. any1ne else feel deeply affectionate about this song???? i dont know why it justs hits me there *hits some place that is not his heart* i mean here *misses agin* well you know where my heart is!!! i just won an ebay auction! Check out the remixes from the singles at this time. I want to say that Moby did one (or am I thinking of his Orbital remix?) In any case, I loved Experience when it came out and a lot of people thought I was crazy when I thought that Prodigy would be huge. I didn't think they'd get as good as they are now, though. I love those guys. Liam Howlett is actually a really decent guy. Keith is a bit of a prick, but I think part of it is his rock star image. In any case, I'd love to see Moby and Prodigy tour again, but I know Moby is really upset about the song "Smack My Bitch Up". What a crazy video that is. BTW, anyone here ever see the Aphex Twin video for "Windowlicker"? I've showed it to a few non-Aphex Twin fans, and they CANNOT stop talking about it. They think it's the funniest/best video they've ever seen. Sorry if this topic has been discussed before. Gonna take your brain to another dimension...pay close attention! The Very Best Of Lou Reed (UK best of released this year) (I just discovered Lou Reed and wonder how I lived without his music before this...) Talking Heads - Sand In The Vaseline (2CD best of) (You'll love it or hate it. I love it.) U2 - Achtung Baby (made me love music) Tupac - All Eyez On Me (one of the very few gangsta rappers I enjoy, this is the best of the genre imho) Wilco - Summer Teeth (from this year, ended my foolish 2 year techno/dance only streak) Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream (you all said it already) U2 - The Joshua Tree (my favorite album by my favorite group) Moby - * (you all know I feel about Moby, I couldn't choose just one) Ned's Atomic Dustbin - Godfodder (a guilty pleasure, brit teen angst pop) Built To Spill - Keep It Like A Secret (great alternative, tightly wound and catchy as all get out) and I need a greatest hits for Creedence Clearwater Revival very badly. Consider them included, too. Okay so that was 11. Shoot me. Not that he doesn't have his own problems or issues (I don't know what they are), and he is most certainly passionate about many things (environment, Christ, animal rights, etc.) but Moby loves life and it comes through in his music. Only someone who has some sort of inner peace could write something like "When It's Cold I'd Like to Die", "God Moving Over the Face of the Waters," or "Everloving". Moby is without a doubt a composer with potential to equal Bach or Beethoven. Don't laugh...I think he possesses above average intelligence and when he writes music he wants to tap into EMOTION. If he continues to write and perform music he will be one of the best musicians of our generation. I say that not in an ass-kissing sort of way, but because he truly is one hell of a performer. I cannot wait to see him again.
