Please don't judge me. Joseph Parkes >parjo727@student.otago.ac.nz I always knew we had vegans and veggies on the list, but I always thought they were a minority! I remember last time the subject came up there were lots of folks defending being carnivorous and citing the course of evolution. Anyways, this is more of a survey than a debate this time. It seems the ranks are swelling! It's nice to see that Moby's ideals have effected some of you. I've been toying with the idea of vegetarianism for a while now, but I currently eat meat, poultry, and shellfish. (I hate fish) I have noticed that after a barbeque I feel sluggish for a few days and after a day of nachos and quesadillas I feel light and energized. Makes me think. Anyways, my point is, Joseph, that you'll find that you won't be judged harshly or negatively for being a meat-eater. We have all different sorts of people from all over he world, and I must say we're a tolerant crowd, so make no apologies. :) - -Steve ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 08 Sep 1999 08:09:17 PDT From: "Steve Giles" Subject: (mobility) Pumpkins & Kareoke (sp?) Hey, how do I spell kareoke correctly? Somebody asked why Moby did VH1's kareoke show. Well, why not? He did mention in a Rolling Stone interview shortly before Play released that he'd been going to kareoke every Wednesday night for a while with Michael Stipe. Also Stipe took lots of pictures of Moby in drag and in the bathtub for some obscure magazine whose title escapes me now. Anyway, kareoke is good, harmless fun, nothing to ashamed of, unless (gasp!) you're SOPHISTICATED. :) No flame intended. As for the remix that was released on the 1979 single, I think it sucks. It just doesn't seem to do much. It's just my taste, I guess, but it's just too wishy-washy for me. No, that's not it, I like wish-wash sometimes. Bland? No, it's got flavor, it just thick and slow, like spilling molasses. Yeah, I fuckin hate molasses and honey and syrup, so there you are. I understand that there's a disco mix of 1979 Moby made that kicks, though. ;) - -Steve P.S. I've been hearing this trend argument forever. Even if it is "TRENDY" that doesn't mean you can discount it. If Moby got really popular (as is bound to happen) and it was "TRENDY" to like him would you stop? Not eating animals is simple. It doesn't take time to work around, it's something you can do easily just about anywhere on the globe and I think we're all smart enough to realize that taking the live of another being pointlessly is just selfish. I just don't see how anything else can be said (unless we brought in the environmental, social & health benefits to eating lower on the social chain). You're welcome to your opinion, but of course it's wrong. :) SiD - -- SiD sid@vicious.com http://www.urinine.com/~sid/ "Architecture students are like virgins with an itch they can not scratch.
