(warning: long rant) its weird, when you play some dance songs to "normal" people, they sometimes will think like "thats the entire words to the song? YEAH??!?!" they dont understand that the power itself, the power of dance music, is in the MUSIC, the beats, the synths, the samples, sound itself, not words. you could have some girl moaning "i love you more than anything else..."blablablablabla but it wouldnt mean anything if she was just kind of moaning. you know? its not WHAT you say but how its expressed. words are very unnecesary. they can only do harm! to make this related, in the interview Moby did with my pals Davo and Annette, he talked about why he writes essays in the liners instead of merely putting song lyrics. it doesnt make sense to print the lyrics, theyre not the main point of the song, theyre just like...elements. but they dont really matter. honestly, i've never heard one Moby song i can think of with any specific interesting lyrics. i mean, the lyrics arent unique, they're not loaded with references or weird words, like a TMBG song or a Presidents USA song, you know? sorry if that sounds mean, but my point is, THE LYRICS DONT MATTER. its how the music affects you. some songs like "Everloving" are so beautiful that words would only kill the beauty, you know? many Orbital songs are like that too. just listened to them a lot yesterday maaaaaaaaaaaaaaan does that bring me back, sort of.... ok, maybe not to an oldskool rave, but In Sides was the first techno cd (double cd actually) that i bought, when this whole "electron___" thing started. wow, that was more refreshing than i could ever imagine! and that just proves my point, their music doesnt need words to get its point across. and a lot of their songs have themes as well: "The Girl With The Sun In Her Head" is about a lost friend, "PETROL" is about like oil spills and such, "Out There Somewhere?" and "Are We Here?" aliens, etc. another classic example of this, tho not as well known is Alec Empire "SuEcide" which is a beautiful classic (i-guess-you-could-call-it-)trance song, (NOT digital hardcore) about ravers killing themselves with drugs, with absolutely no words. shit, ive been ramblin on too long. great, great GREAT mad funny website of Precious Roy transcripts. if you've never heard of Precious Roy go here now! if you have go here anyway! Most definately Porcelian, second choice south side. I feel bad for all those people who picked up play for BodyRock and rest of the album was nothing like it. If they don't catch on to the beauty, then they become Moby haters (unless they decide to pick up some dance happy early stuff). I hate when I pick up a new artist because of one really cool song and the rest is nothing like it. So obnoxious, even though there a few excpetions. 4. Beck's MTV Makes Me Want to Smoke Crack. B-side to the loser single. The most hilarious song... Nirvana melding into lounge lizard tune. I so love Mr. Beck. Question ~ when I was reading BT's Movement in Still Life booklet, he gave thanxs to Moby. I know they've done shows together, but is there any other connection? And Moby in I think Animal Rights mentioned Scooter. Does he mean the english pop-techno band (who are super fun?) or just some guy named scooter? Yeah there's bodyrock and feeling so real and next is the E, but there's a lot of the emotional beautiful stuff that would never ever ever get radio play because to make people cry while they're driving to work is not kosher. I mean I've never heard when its cold i'd like to die on the radio or even played outside my cd-player. And that's the stuff that moves me.
