It's great to see lots of people taking an interest in the master's work, but the trouble comes when most of the people in the audience have only come because they have only heard the latest single and don't bother listening to the rest of the music being played. A show (I can not remember who the band was at the time, we are going back about a year or so ago) was ruined for me, because of a couple of people were complaining that the band wasn't playing the single. The band would play a song, these two would complain. They ended up in a fight because of their closed-mindness (good job too!). There is always more than one side to a group, take the time out to listen to them before seeing the group in action. That way, you will get to know all the songs that are likely to to be played and be more enjoyable. Sorry, I'll stop my rant now. For those of you in the IL area, I heard from a friend that there will be a Paul Oakenfold concert in Chicago pretty soon, but I just don't know when. (What a big help I am). Anyway, a couple days before Mobylicious' 04/15 concert, I put up a post saying how/if I could meet him. It ended up that I could not, but I still had an amazing time. The lighting was amazing, he was really funny, and the music was of course great. Bush put on a pretty good show, even though a lot of his fans present were all like, 12. But music is universal, and I shouldn't knock any fans, even if they are asking for it. :) Well, I must go, but before I do, I have one question: does Moby have any control over the revenues of his music--I remember in a chat transcript he was saying how he doesn't own the music or something. Can anyone elaborate on this? And, I would also like to acknowledge the nice gal who emailed me that one time--sorry I couldn't respond back! I've been a big Moby fan for quite some time. My collection includes Everything Is Wrong, I Like to Score, Move, Animal Rights, and Play. There are a few more singles I'd like to get as well as the collected b-sides but my pocket book isn't cooperating. That's what college does to people I suppose. I can't remember where I first heard Moby, perhaps it was a few years back on a radio program called Over the Edge or on a LA radio station. I know that since then I've been hooked. Last night I saw Moby for the first time in concert. I must say that Moby's performance outshined Bush by a long shot. I drove six hours to see Moby live and I must say that it was well worth it. I just wish Moby could have been on for a longer period of time. I thought seeing Moby on stage was great enough. However, after the show on my way to the car, there he was talking to fans and signing autographs. I felt extremely honored to be able to actually come up to him, shake his hand, and talk to him. I was touched that he would stick around to meet his fans and converse with them. I've been beaming from the moment I entered the auditorium until now and will be beaming for days. I went to the show last night solely to see Moby. I've never been a big Bush fan. I have quite a huge variety of artists in which I'm interested. My favorites are (besides Moby) Depeche Mode, Smashing Pumpkins, Abba, BT, and U2. However, many others are ranked almost as highly. These include Blondie, Blur, Enigma, The Cure, Trance Atlantic Air Waves, Poe, Mono, Delerium, Orbital, Air, Johann Pachelbel, Duran Duran, Bel Biv Devoe, Crystal Method, Radiohead, Love & Rockets, REM, Weezer, The Turtles, Beethoven, Sugar Hill Gang, They Might Be Giants, Ella Fitzgerald, The Beatles, Ozomatli, the nostalgic (and sometimes cheesy) songs of the 80's and oh so many others who would make this list three times as long. This concludes my introduction. I apologize for its length. I'm procrastinating instead of studying for my dreaded organic chemistry test. - -Tina ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Apr 2000 06:34:48 EDT From: MartinC1@aol.com Subject: (mobility) Number 1 and now Double Platinum! I heard on Virgin Radio something about Beat 2000, or B 2000, or something like that, that is happening August.. 16? It's a music fest. One of the biggest though, with Travis (England's It Band) playing there and everything, so who knows how expensive the tickets are going to be. Virgin Radio is going to be broadcasting the whole thing, so they say, and I have no idea where the fest actually is. And, Moby is not being pumped as a headliner, he's an "And also.." instead of a "Featuring.." Just FYI. He's also playing Homelands in late May (according to Homelands) .. tickets around £45 and Glastonbury .. tickets around £70. I think that's June? Elissa PS I hear Natural Blues being played on the radio, but that's it. Apparently none of his singles are on the charts, just his album is no 1. The singles here are pure crap anyway, so I don't think it's a bad thing that he's not in their company.. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
