Moby was on the UK radio last night (XFM) and he said that he and Mute would like to release a Play DVD sometime early next year. What is said would be included would be all the Video's. Remixes of 'Play', live recordings. lots of interactive stuff, connection to web sites. He said that on a commercial side, releasing a DVD is not profitable unless you sell mega loads but he likes doing things like this. Sorry for the delay, but I thought Damian was going to post it. - -Daniel hi everybody, backstage at the 'hurricane' festival in germany. it's cold and grey outside, but it's a nice festival, nonetheless. i was browsing the 'mobility' archives and i noticed a few comments about 'animal rights'. some of you were vexed that the elektra re-release didn't have any of the guitar-based songs. i wanted to put 'face it' and either 'revolver' or 'say it's all mine' on there, but, alas, it didn't happen. in concert i would LOVE to play some of the more guitar oriented songs off of AR, and to be honest with you i don't know why i don't. perhaps in the future i'll focus on that some more. i do try to play 'revolver' when we're doing our own shows, and i alway play 'new dawn fades' in manchester... but i, too, love animal rights. i listen to it often. and i kind of like the fact that it hasn't been 'discovered'(gee that sounds kind of arrogant, huh). ah well, time to let other people use this phone line. thanks, moby - ------------- To unsubscribe from this list, send mail to majordomo@xmission.com with the line "unsubscribe mobility" in the body. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Jun 2000 16:23:40 +0200 From: Jonathan Ruano Subject: Re: (mobility) Moby & DVD So here is one guy who's gonna purchase that DVD as soon as he finds it :) On Tue, Jun 27, 2000 at 05:00:01AM -0400, MartinC1@aol.com wrote: > Moby was on the UK radio last night (XFM) and he said that he and Mute would > like to release a Play DVD sometime early next year. - -- Jonathan Ruano Pach Email: ICQ:1252101 AIM:Tlabok IRC:Kobalt Homepage: http://www.pobox.com/~kobalt/ - ------------- To unsubscribe from this list, send mail to majordomo@xmission.com with the line "unsubscribe mobility" in the body. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Jun 2000 09:10:19 -0700 From: "Shaun Rader" Subject: (mobility) Moby: Live, DVD, Best Of... It's always nice to hear from Moby on the list... - --- [About playing AR stuff live] I especially think it would fit well with those big radio station concerts when there are other bands out there like Korn and Limp Biskit (sp?). If he busted out "Someone To Love" or "All That I Need..." (even if it isn't on AR) it would surprise some people who discredit Moby and the whole electronic genre. I know he plays the cover songs which in itself will shock the kids (they probably had no clue he could play guitar) but when they hear "this is a song off an album i made a few years ago" I think it will be a shocker. - -- [About the DVD] It's too bad artists can't make a profit off of something like that but it would be great to see one jam packed with stuff. Do they have any out there right now like that for any band? A sensory overload of Moby songs, footage, interviews, videos, live, etc. would just be AWESOME!! - -- [About the Best Of] I guess Moby had some input on what songs got put on that CD? I wouldn't feel so bad about Elektra cashing in on the Moby craze- it happens all the time. (Punk band MxPx's old record label released all of their B-Sides and some demos onto a compilation when they got a bit popular a year or two ago. It was kinda sad BECAUSE they were rare songs that I think they didn't want released in compilation form. Also punk band Bad Religion's old record label released a Best Of.. cd when they started getting popular.) I myself don't like compilations much because they just don't flow like the real releases but it can get someone into the music if they are not sure which release to buy first. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I'm a newbie, so here's my intro: * Name: Scott * Age: 19 * My collection is actually puny right now... I only have "Play" and my copy of "Everything is Wrong" is in the mail. But hey, we all gotta start somewhere, right? :) * I bought "Play" on a whim, after hearing that it kicked Santana's arse in the critic's opinions as the REAL best album of '99, and I'm very glad that I did. * I'm a big Sarah McLachlan fan, as well as Beth Orton, William Orbit, Fiona Apple, Alanis Morrisette, Blur, The Verve, EBTG, Sasha and Digweed, et. all... I like quality music of every genre. * I was just wondering if you guys knew what Moby was saying in "My Weakness." Death To The Pixies! woww. over in the US, Slim Shady is still the frigggin #1 album, with over 4 million copies! yikes, thats scary. moby however is #56 on the album charts here. however it is platinum, which is certainly groundbreaking on many accounts. and on the indie charts, new albums by Sasha & Digweed and Paul Van Dyk and Belle & Sebastian are all in the top 20, so thats good. S&D, PVD, Modest Mouse, Dido and Travis are all in the Heatseekers chart too. oh yeah. Porcelain is #18 on the "Modern" "Rock" charts!!! yeah!!!!! right above two rap songs, Eminem and Cypress Hill. wait, Em isn't at all "rock", whats he doing there? at least cypress is "rock"! ;) well ok enough of that, now on to some stuff i played on my recent radio show, i just want to say how cool it is that Moby is so diverse and junk, what i did on my show was hop from genre to genre and Moby fit in a bunch of categories. like the first hour all i plaid was fucking NOISE, first just real noisy shit (DHR, Non, Ryu etc) then hard jungle, then i played harder rock stuff and Moby fit in there: (Pixies "Rock Music", Deftones, Beasties hardcore, Moby "Heavy Flow/You") then i played some Techno Classics i guess: KLF:3AM Eternal (i actually played it at 3AM!!!) Mr. Oizo:Flat Beat (may not be old-school, but I say its a classic!!!!!!) Moby:Rock The House (maybe Go is more "classic" but i was more in the mood to hear this for some reason) A Guy Called Gerald:Voodoo ray and then some hiphop stuff and then more punk rock type stuff then some Brazilian music which was going to lead into a bunch of Stereolab stuff but i forgot to play a novelty set i'd promised my dad so i did that and then played some Steroelab... then an ambient set for the last hour: KLF:Madrugada Eterna FSOL:Among Myselves Orb:Oxbow Lakes (remix, bonus track from UFOff) Aphex:disc 1 track 1 Moby:The Blue Terror Of Lawns Black Tape For A Blue Girl:The Green Box Alec Empire:Civilization Virus Alec Empire:Limited 05 µ-ziq:Goodbbye Goodbye yay!!!!!
