I went to a club one night with some friends to see this band. Not a punk/hardcore/thrash/metal band, just some 40 somethings playing coversongs of smashmouth and the like and this maniac was getting obnoxious. Some of the guys at the club told him to relax a little bit and he wouldn't. I was about 5-6 feet away when he checked me from behind. I went flying and crashed into a bunch of guys. It's funny, but I was really sore, it was like he just wanted to fight someone. My little 5 foot 3, 115 lb self was not going to be the one to start with this 6 foot 1 180 lb. guy. He was kicked out of the club. The crowd is not > going to tone down just for Moby and his chilled out > fans. Whatever. Some of Moby's music is chilled out and why someone needs to mosh to WDMHFSB well, that's kinda stupid. But whatever. I dont' know if it's feeling sorry or not. I think people can't really control they're movements when they're trying to dance and don't have the room to do it. I'm not trying to > be an asshole, but I > don't think stereotyping people who like to get out > frustrations as > nincompoops is justified. I do. Getting out your frustrations on other people at a concert is awful. That doesn't really seem to have any relations to music. Releasing energy and going nuts to the music is one thing, but beating people up at a concert and saying that you're getting your frustrations out and it's because of the music is insane. I'm not saying you're one of these people. I have no idea what you are like. I'm just letting you know my opinion. And I'm not against moshing. I used to like it before it became really violent. Now, I don't know where the focus is. The music, or the violence. danielle > chris > > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-mobility@lists.xmission.com > [mailto:owner-mobility@lists.xmission.com]On Behalf > Of No1gypsie@aol.com > Sent: Sunday, August 06, 2000 12:15 PM > To: mobility@lists.xmission.com > Subject: Re: (mobility) Rolling Rock Report and > Crowd Surfing-kinda OT > > > Why can't they understand that some people in the > crowd can't be around > that? > I was next to a girl in a wheel chair at that show. > I always go to the > person > in the wheelchair because they always get knocked > over. I meant it as a reply but forgot to change the "to" line before I sent it. So um, lemme make this moby related. Will moby be changing his set for these new north american tours? I saw him at the Roxy last October, and I'll be a little sad if it's a re-run of the same concert. I'm glad to be seeing him, but I really really want to see him perform more of his rarer melodies. If you could create the set list for him, what would it be?
