Whoa, grab a hold of that knee, it's jerking. There's a difference between us crowning ourselves God and remembering fondly the fun we had on this list. Besides, I'm trying right now to incite some actual content to replace the 7th grade chatroom.

(now I have to explain that I was generalizing and that it's not all like that, for instance, below)

The sharks need to eat, too. Nobody is forcing you to buy it. Is it cheap and gimmicky? Yes. The easy way to react to this is to simply ignore it. The desire to own each and every last version will only lead you to resent the very music you're trying to enjoy.

For those that have complained that Moby is a sellout for this, or whatever incident, you should ask yourself this. Why do I listen to Moby? Is it for his music? Is it for his viewpoints and ethics? Is it both? Are the two inseparably entwined? I used to be big on Moby's viewpoints, but now I could care less. I can enjoy his music even if I disagree with him. The relationship between an artist and his audience is intimate, but it's also one-way. You feel close to him. Too many people have this imaginary marriage between themselves and their idol. They hold the idol responsible for upholding their (imagined) mutual point of view, because they have no other external affirmation of their belief or moral. They then feel betrayal when the idol/artist changes their minds, or behaves in a manner that contradicts the (imagined) contract between the artist and fan.

Now I'm just wanking, but I think there's some glimmer of truth in that muddled mess. What about you?

Steve, hopeful but not optimistic

With your help i managed to get a quite incredible collection of items (about 130 i think) from the man and though i'm not as an hardcore collecting man as before, i still look from time to time adress you gave to see if there's not something to get. So if Steve you're willing to sell your Botherhood 12", just tell me :) Mobility made me enjoy Moby and pushed me to make my own Moby site and my own mailing list on him (if there are any french speaking people, why not join it ? :) ) Just to say that don't be that nostalgic (is it english ?) or melancholic, i'm sure that when new material will be released, we'll get the return of reviews ... And Bart, i've still not located the Party Time single PARTY TIME REMIXES [Barracuda, Aug 1991] US 12", Instinct, EX-223X A1 5:58 Party Time (Original) A2 7:48 Party Time (Voodoo Child Mix) B1 6:12 Party Time (Moby Dub) B2 8:04 Party Time (Todd Terry's Cool Mix) And also, it is normally planned that on the the Dvd (to be released in june - - july) there will be a "megamix of Play tracks remixes" Looks like Evil Ninja is coming back !!!!!!!:) cheers, matthieu np: Craig Armstrong feat. This clutter diminishes the list by making it so cluttered that the actual thoughts being shared are suffocated with the endless and unnecessary original quoted lines. By simply using cut and paste, under the word edit, to highlight and paste in only what you want to refer to, anyone responding to the list can avoid this. It is not difficult and may even be quicker. This is beyond a question of ignoring netiquette with this list, it is making many of the posts go unread due to frustration or just missing the posts amidst the mess altogether. Many people have interesting and informative posts, but with the quoted lines being three or four times or MORE the size of the post, I can't be bothered most of the time, regardless. Also, I second the advice mentioned already, "before I hit the Send button, I ask myself "Why am I writing/sending this?" Especially if it's going to a list of people." Dude, you are the greatest. Thanks for the vote of confidence, because lately I've been getting alot of Sh*# and I just want to know that my writings are not in vain. I guess I'll try to make my posts a little better and I GUESS I'll cave in and make them shorter. It seems that is the "proper" thing to do. BTW, I liked the idea of making a video for one of Moby's songs. That's a very creative outlook that I can use to vent my hatred for country music. I've been here the whole time, just mute. I was just full of hot air yesterday, so I vented it in this general direction. For some reason hotmail started automatically turning Rich Text Format on. I didn't notice, but I just killed Rich Text, which I assume is the HTML tags. Sorry about that. Here's another video: (come on people!) Find My Baby For this video I would do a collage of parodies of Paula Abdul videos. If you remember the song with Keanu Reeves in the video doing drag racing, (Forever Your Girl, maybe) and Paula in the saddle shoes and 50's outfit, and so forth, well, this is how I would dress Moby. I'm not quite sure if he'd get the good girl's outfit or the bad boy's leather. You decide. For the drag racing part, the cars would have to be stretch limosines. Then I would have Moby's love interest be the cartoon cat from that other Paula Abdul video. (don't look at me like that, Moby loves aminals tee hee) For the rest of the drag racing crowd I would invite other bald people to be them. They would have to wear whatever Moby wears, so all leather bad boys, or all saddle-shoes good girls. Michael Stipe, Jack Dangers, etc, the guy from Live, Vertical Horizon, etc. I don't remember how the drag race ends in Paula's video, but in this one Moby wins the race and his and the cat and the baldys all live happily ever after.
