I will be there and I will be recording. New ORder is only on the west coast part of the tour- lucky us here in california! I am upset that the Orb will not be on the main stage though and I may have to choose between them and possibly New Order or Moby. New Order wins since it's far more of a rare treat. I saw Moby 4 times in 99 and another 2 in 2000- I just saw the Orb a couple weeks ago and have seen them about 5 or 6 times. New Order- only seen them twice- two nights in a row in 1987. I will not miss them for anything! How's that for an argument against astrology? (note to those who take astrology very seriously - i'm kidding, please don't write volumes in response). Now to make this Moby related: someone recently posted a link to a (VERY short) news story about Moby having a loud nude party on his rooftop. Here's what he had to say about it (I'm ripping it off from moby-online.com): I'm so amused... You know the game 'chinese whispers'? Wherein one person says something and it's passed around between a bunch of people and by the time it reaches the last person it's completely changed (purple monkey dishwater)? A few weeks ago I went to a party on the roof of the Gershwin Hotel where someone had built a sauna. I went in the sauna for a little while and it was nice. Then I put on my clothes and left. Very simple. Then two weeks later the New York Post ran a little gossip bit saying that I was staying at the Gershwin Hotel and that I had been running around naked on the roof. Then some UK on-line sites ran stories that I had built a sauna on my roof and I had been up there with friends, naked. Then some other sites ran stories that the police had been called to my house because of noise disturbances and found me and my friends on my roof, naked. Let's see where the story goes now? It's really funny. Here's my proposal for the continuation of the story... I've built a sauna factory on my roof and I'm employing naked slave labourers to churn out shoddy, sub-par saunas that will be sold to plutocrats in the third world who will never find out that the saunas are shoddy cos it's so hot in their countires anyway, but they want the saunas for some of that world renowned nordic prestige. - -Moby Aw, I'm somewhat disappointed...and I was thinking what a cool idea that was for a theme party, all tropical & such, maybe add a few butt-flaps... love&a cocktail umbrella, malfunctiongirl - ------------- To unsubscribe from this list, send mail to majordomo@xmission.com with the line "unsubscribe mobility" in the body. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 May 2001 15:15:42 -0700 (PDT) From: Eric Subject: Re: (mobility) please...what's the password?!?!? Moby, Afrika Bambaata and Armand Van Helden are set to headline a 4-day rave EcoSystem 1.0 in the Amazon rainforest from Aug 2-5. Organisers Liquid Sky said the event is designed to highlight eco and pollution issues. They hope to confirm the line-up within weeks. Liquid Sky said: "The aim is to produce an ecologically friendly event and help raise awareness and support for Greenpeace and other NGO's that help protect the environment, local population and indigenous people." The proposed line-up also includes Mixmaster Morris, Mad Professor, Lamb, Randall, Kenny Ken, Bryan Gee, A Guy Called Gerald and Grooverider. Greenpeace Amazon said: "The event is to serve as a way of communicating how important it is to preserve the largest tropical forest in the world." Moby is set to take time out from the studio where is working on a new LP to meet up with Fleming at a forthcoming UK club date. Fleming said: "I'm a massive fan of Moby. Who isn't? The guy's a dance genius. I'm truly humbled to hear his praise of my work and can't wait to hook up with him in the UK. I hope we will collaborate in the future." Fleming's current mix LP 'Euphoria' has just sold over 20,000 copies in the UK in its first week of release. Fleming has also announced that he will be releasing a series of new tracks on his own Joof label throughout the summer. He has also recorded a remix of Simple Minds' 'Belfast Child' due for release this autumn. An industry source said: "Fleming's peak-time mix of 'Belfast Child' is a potential Top 10 or higher - if that happens everyone's going to know about Fleming." - ------------- To unsubscribe from this list, send mail to majordomo@xmission.com with the line "unsubscribe mobility" in the body. ------------------------------ End of mobility-digest V4 #586 ****************************** ------------- To unsubscribe from this list, send mail to majordomo@xmission.com with the line "unsubscribe mobility-digest" in the body.
