It has no licensed cars, just spin offs with some extravagance...the Stallion is a deadringer for the Ford Mustang by no stretch of the imagination. But the game engine is quite sim oriented, with a lot of realistic physics intact obviously -- you can't ride the rails without losing drastic speed as you could in the original, you won't be able to flip your car, road texture affects speed, etc etc. But the game is a lot more fun than most racer type sims I've played by far. On Turok 2 -- mazes are always frustrating; it's just a matter of keeping your cool. I can still recall getting stuck on the Catacombs in the original Turok. Made it out though...took a while, but I did it. And as for RR, it's not quite a 'port'. It's more like an upgraded port, or compilation type game. I have yet to get it (the one store that gets games on time is EB, a good 15 minute drive off), but from what I understand Nintendo's NST group, took the series, put onto a cart and finetuned it with some additions. For that price you could pick up Ridge Racer ($10), Ridge Racer Revolution ($10), Rage Racer ($10) and Ridge Racer Type 4 ($20) and still have money left over for two NeGcons ($4 each). Although I bet by April Ridge Racer 64 will be $40 at Wal Mart, hey Rayman 2 and Resident Evil 2 (N64) are both $40 now at Wal Mart. The one I like is bulbasaur. With him its easy to beat Brock ( the first gym leader), but you'll have the hardest time when it comes to beating Gary at the final battle. Anyway, it would be difficult to win since he chooses the one that defeats your kind of pokemon. I would definitely go for bulbasaur. > > >[ To quit the n64 mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe n64" ] >[ (without the quotes) to majordomo@xmission.com ] ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com [ To quit the n64 mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe n64" ] [ (without the quotes) to majordomo@xmission.com ] ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Feb 2000 16:39:59 EST From: Nutz4n64@aol.com Subject: Re: [N64] Pokemon In a message dated 02/15/2000 5:36:34 AM Pacific Standard Time, u03cdw@abdn.ac.uk writes: << Whats the best pokemon to choose at the start of the game? You'll certainly be grateful when you come across lots of rock based Pokemon in those caves...even if you're overpowered, your weaker hits still leave significant damage. My 2nd choice: Bulbasaur. He's better to catch later and build up to Venusaur though. As for Char, he's my favorite Pokemon, but not the best to be used. - -aldo m [ To quit the n64 mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe n64" ] [ (without the quotes) to majordomo@xmission.com ] ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Feb 2000 16:45:21 EST From: Nutz4n64@aol.com Subject: Re: [N64] Pokemon In a message dated 02/15/2000 1:34:17 PM Pacific Standard Time, emercado13@hotmail.com writes: << I think it all depends on the your style. Misty can be kinda tough if you don't have Bulbasaur, but I always choose Squirtle. - -Eric- [ To quit the n64 mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe n64" ] [ (without the quotes) to majordomo@xmission.com ] ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Feb 2000 16:48:17 EST From: Devil929@aol.com Subject: Re: [N64] Ridge Racer 64 In a message dated 2/15/00 1:53:45 PM Central Standard Time, TreyTable@aol.com writes: << The only problem I can think of with Ridge Racer 64 (aside from the obvious lack of NeGcon support) is its price; $59.99. However, I did play through 3 laps on the first track at a demo at EB and it's a very nice game from that little I played. The brake lights have a nice blur when turning, the Rumble Pak is very well used (quite forcefully), and the graphics are clean and just look good. Control is certainly tighter than I expected as I began some 180s as I tried to regain control of my car. The price (I paid $59 but only cause I preordered Pokemon Stadium with it...RR cost $49) is fair enough for me since I want it enough, though I gotta say the low prices on the games of late is stupendous. I saw Turok 2 for $15 at Best Buy, and both Rage Wars and Goemon's Great Adventure for $30. Mmmm, mmm.
